I just came across this blouse in my closet…I haven’t worn it for a really long time and I’m not sure why.  I guess I forgot I had it!  Some might say it’s because I have too many clothes, but I’m just going to chalk it up to forgetfulness!  The colors are so pretty and it’s light and sheer, so it’s just right for summer.  I found this necklace on Sassy Steals and I loved the bright colors.  It will be perfect with a white tee, but I liked how the colors in the necklace picked up the colors in the blouse.  These are the pink shoes I mentioned the other day…love them!  I needed pink flats and these were under $10, so I snapped them up.
Today I’m linking with Everyday Fashion and Finance and Perfectly Coutured for their Three-fer Thursday link up,Tara at Mix and Match Fashion for the Summer Style Link Up and Share Your Style Saturday at Clairejustineoxox. Swing by and check out what the other girls are wearing today!

Style Tip:  Use accessories to play up the colors in your clothing.  Don’t be afraid of mixing colors…your accessories don’t all have to be the same color.  Variety makes your outfit more interesting.

This weeks Trend Spin Link Up at Walking In Memphis In High Heels is bows. Believe it or not, I really don’t own anything with a bow or bows on it, so I dug through my closet and came up with this top. It ties in the front, and that’s a bow, right?!
My favorite way to wear it is actually under a blazer when it’s cooler outside.  Since I’m petite, but curvy with a short waist, the ruffles add width that I don’t really love.  A blazer tapers it in and the lacy ruffles sticking out add a pretty touch. It is a nice top for summer though.  It works equally well with a maxi skirt or denim shorts.  Since there is a lot of volume up top, I paired it with one of my less voluminous maxis so there wasn’t so much going on.
I’m also linking up with the weekly Real Girl Style Link UpStyle Elixir: Style Sessions, and My Thrifty Chic Anything & Everything Blog Hop.
Style Tip:  If you’re wearing something with a lot of volume on top, wear it with something more streamlined on the bottom and vice versa.

One of my girlfriends thinks this t-shirt is absolutely awful.  Personally, I think it’s so over the top that it’s supremely cool!  I found this little gem in the boy’s department at WalMart last summer and I had to have it.  I brought it home and did a little minor surgery (sleeve and collar removal) on it and…voila! Perfectly fabulous!  I’ve been known to wear it to work with a blazer and pencil skirt, trust me, no one else is ever rockin’ the same outfit.  I love things that are quirky and different; things you wouldn’t necessarily see someone else wearing, at least not in the same way.  And how about these shoes?! I just got them and I’m in love.  I also got a pair in bright pink…they’ll be making an appearance later this week.

Style Tip:  Don’t be afraid to take risks and be different.  Something that might seem to be too much at first glance might end up being the one piece that makes the outfit.

I’ve had this dress for a couple of years. I scored it for $10 on clearance at Old Navy.  It has become one of my favorite things to wear in the summer when it’s ridiculously hot like it has been lately.  What is up with this heat?! And the humidity…enough already!  I styled it two ways; one a little bit dressier and one casual.  I did a little print mixing with the casual look and paired it with my butterfly Vans, which I love.  They might seem a little too girly, but I don’t care!  If it hadn’t been so crazy hot, I would have thrown on a belt to give my waist some definition.  Honestly, defining my waist was the last thing I was worried about when it was 92 degrees and 1000% humidity!

Style Tip:  Horizontal stripes, especially on a loose fitting shape, can be a little tricky for curvier girls.  Throw a vest, jacket, or belt over top to nip in your waist and give you some shape.

My little girl has wanted to make an appearance on my blog since I started it a few months ago.  We went to a bridal shower last weekend and both of us wore neon lace dresses.  Of course in my mind, that was a blog photo op!  Isn’t she just too cute?  The dresses were actually bought on separate occasions, months apart, but once the similarities occurred to me I thought, “So nerdy, it’s cool, right?”  My dress has already made an appearance here before, but this time I switched out the shoes and accessories to dress it up a bit.

Style Tip:  Don’t be afraid of color.  Neutrals are great, but color can really liven up your closet.  If it seems too overwhelming, start with something small like bright shoes, a handbag or other accessories.
