My little girl has wanted to make an appearance on my blog since I started it a few months ago.  We went to a bridal shower last weekend and both of us wore neon lace dresses.  Of course in my mind, that was a blog photo op!  Isn’t she just too cute?  The dresses were actually bought on separate occasions, months apart, but once the similarities occurred to me I thought, “So nerdy, it’s cool, right?”  My dress has already made an appearance here before, but this time I switched out the shoes and accessories to dress it up a bit.

Style Tip:  Don’t be afraid of color.  Neutrals are great, but color can really liven up your closet.  If it seems too overwhelming, start with something small like bright shoes, a handbag or other accessories.

I’ve had this skirt for probably a hundred years…well, maybe not a hundred exactly, but a really long time!  It’s kind of difficult to style because of the top color on the skirt, so I usually stick with white, chambray, or denim on top.  It’s comfortable to wear while running around town or just chillin’ at home, but it still looks cute.  I finished it off with my turquoise flower sandals…kind of like a statement necklace for your feet!  Today I’m linking up with Alison for her I Feel Pretty Link Up over at Get Your Pretty On and Share Your Style Saturday…swing by and take a look!

Style Tip:  Even a super casual look can be prettied up with the addition of something simple, like shoes or accessories.

I’m not sure what it is about galaxy print, but I love it! Maybe I was an astronaut in a previous life…or an alien…hmmm, something to think about.  Anyway, over the last year I’ve managed to pick up a few  galaxy print pieces. I’d kinda like a purse, but alas, no luck yet… This skirt is stretchy and lightweight, perfect for the summer heat.  I’ve also worn it in the winter with a chunky sweater, tights, and boots and it looks just as fabulous!  It could also easily be mixed with other prints, for example a floral or striped top or blazer.  This time I went with a basic white tank because I wanted to showcase the galaxy print.

Style Tip:  When you’re thinking about wearing a print, try something outside of the ordinary.  If you typically go for stripes, polka dots,  florals, or animal prints (those are the easiest prints to work with), try something geometric, galaxy, or maybe even skulls (!) instead.

How did it get to be July 15th already? Holy crap?! Summer vacation is just flying by this year. I have to be honest, I don’t wear long pants/jeans a whole lot in the summer. I typically stick to shorts and skirts because it’s just too hot. I miss my long pants though, so I sneak them in whenever I can.  I have the GAP broken-in khakis in about a zillion colors, but this olive green pair is my favorite.  They’re really versatile and go with so much.
Today I’m linking up with Patti at Not Dead Yet Style, Elena at DC in Style, and Claire at http://www.clairejustineoxox.com/ for their weekly blog hops.  It’s a lot of fun, so stop by for a visit!

Style Tip:  Don’t be afraid of mixing unexpected neutrals together, like tan/brown/camel accessories with gray.  Black is the obvious choice with gray, but browns work equally well and add a little something different.

This outfit was inspired by the Real Girl Glam Denim Cutoffs Style Challenge.  I realize these aren’t cutoffs, but they are denim shorts, right?!  I love a challenge, so it was fun to take one of my favorite pairs of shorts and build a cute outfit around them. Take a minute and hop over to check out how the other ladies styled their denim…
The shorts and tank top I’m wearing are actually two of the most often worn items I have in my summer rotation.  As I’ve mentioned before, gray is one of my favorite neutrals and this top is also soft and light. Therefore it gets thrown into the mix pretty often.  It can be dressed up or down, and looks just as good with a skirt, a statement necklace, and a pair of wedges.
Today I’m also linking up with Two Thirty-Five Designs for the Casual Friday Link Up, Claire for her Welcome To The Weekend Blog Hop, and Rachel and Lena for their Passion For Fashion Blog Hop…so, grab another cup of coffee and stop by to check out all of the fabulousness!

Style Tip:  Try to use items in your wardrobe in different ways and think outside of the box.  Casual items can be dressed up and dressier items can be dressed down.  That way you get more mileage out of things you already own.
