July layers…kind of an oxymoron don’t you think?…
The day I wore this I stepped outside wearing the chambray tunic over my jeans and skull graphic tank top. I was already not too keen on the idea that I knew I needed to wear jeans in July, so imagine my displeasure when I realized the tunic by itself was not warm enough. I think the full body goose bump gave it away. But alas, there is a silver lining in the chilly weather cloud. The nip in the air provided me the opportunity to wear my gray cocoon cardigan. Remember the black cocoon cardigan I love so much? I mentioned that I should have picked it up in cream when I purchased the black one. Well, I went back to JCPenney to see if they still had it, and lo and behold, there was cream and gray! In light of the fact gray is my favorite neutral and the sweaters were on clearance for half off, I bought both. Remember my friends, if you love something; really love it, then buy multiple colors if you can.
In any case, the cardigan kept me warm (again, why do I need to be kept warm in July) and added another layer of awesome to my look. I was slightly concerned that the cardigan over the tunic would make me look like an Olsen twin circa 2010. The chambray tunic was my third piece, but I think the addition of the cardi took it up a notch without going over the top. The nice thing about both the tunic and the cardigan is they can be layered with heavier pieces once fall and winter make their return.

How I love that chambray tunic. The cocoon cardigan definitely added interest. Funny about layering in July. I’m doing just that today as well as it’s a bit chilly. The summer sun/heat was doing a little too much, so it’s a welcome break. Beautiful tank top. Lovely Monday to you Debbie.
