Thug Life: Plaid Slip Dress, Moto Jacket & Over The Knee Boots

Sometimes on the days my daughter has gymnastics I take my photo equipment with me and snap my shots at a local park, which is where these pictures were taken. This location is actually a big turnaround area that dead ends at the top of an amphitheater that’s in the park. In the past people would park here for events and whatnot, and as far as I have ever known it’s a public area. In any case, the point of my story is while I was wrapping things up and putting my equipment back in the car, a police officer slowly cruises in. I didn’t pay him much attention and got in the car and started reviewing the shots on my camera. So he backs up and parks against the guard rail and just sits there. Staring at me. Now I realize the moto jacket might have given him the impression I’m a thug, but seriously? I’m a chick in a plaid lacy dress with a camera and a tripod. What type of havoc could I possibly be wreaking? Maybe someone in one of the houses down the road mistook my camera tripod for a sniper rifle tripod and thought they should call in the heat. I mean really, what better disguise is there for a sniper than a lace trimmed dress. Since he was giving me the heebee jeebees I scooted on out of there.

How fierce is this dress my friends? I discovered it at Target on clearance and snapped it up for under $13. Yep, that’s right, under $13. I paired it with my fleece leggings, over the knee boots, a turtleneck and the moto jacket because damn, it’s cold outside. I figure all of the snow probably gave that away though. When it was all said and done I thought it kind of gave off a slightly girly 80’s punk vibe which made me happy.

Your plaid dress is wonderful. I saw a red plaid dress at Mango today for a great price. But I am saving up this month and being a good non-shopper since Vivian’s birthday is next week also. Hopefully the stores will still have it next month for me. I did wear a dressy red plaid dress on the blog, yesterday though.

Thanks for linking up with Linda and I, also.

That dress is FIERCE, my friend. And I’m jelly that you found it at Target - how could I have missed it in mine? You know I’d have been all over that red plaid like white on rice! Anyhow, that cop story went so totally the opposite of what I expected, given your tendency toward badassness, but I suppose one can’t be too careful with The Man nowadays. ;p

Too funny about the cop! Maybe he’s not with the times and doesn’t know about all of us fashion bloggers out there, just trying to find some daylight in these winter months to take our outfit pics. That plaid and lace dress is TOO cute, especially with your knee high boots! LOVE!

Whoa! Great dress! And anytime you pull out the motorcycle jacket, you have my attention. Fine outfit.

Sorry ’bout the heat. They tend to pay attention to anything out of the ordinary, even completely-innocent fashion-bloggers doing their thing. It happened to me once, too; like you, I got freaked out about it.

Haha … I wonder what the cop thought you were up to? Anyway, you look adorable and what a steal on that dress! A couple of my very favorite things come from Target. Happy Friday eve, Teach!

The Canadian stores are closing but I’m in the US. I thought I had it bad because I have to drive 35 minutes to get to the closest one.

I’m so sad, dearest Debbie…Target is pulling out of Canada!! No more local opportunities for me to make a terrific find like this adorable plaid dress; which you’ve paired to perfection with your moto jacket and over-the-knee boots!! P.S. The white stuff you can keep…I’ve got my fingers crossed that we will continue to have a snow-free winter here in Vancouver!! 😉
