The Advantages Of Rural Living: Leopard Pencil Skirt, Concert Tee And Denim Vest

No, I’m not going to wax poetic in regard to country living. Come on now, you guys know me better than that…I’ve got a good story for you. Where else can you drive down the road and see a cow tied to a tree in someone’s front yard? You know, like they put their family dog outside for some fresh air…except it’s a cow. And then only a day later see a man walking his Great Dane. Wait a minute. What’s so special about that? Well, this particular Great Dane was wearing leather saddle bags and carrying stuff. Like a pack mule. Or a Harley with four legs. The cool thing? These two scenarios happened on the same stretch of road about a mile apart. Maybe the dude with the Great Dane also owned the cow. This of course leads me to some intriguing questions. Where does the cow live? Where does it sleep? Does it have a cow bed in the house or maybe it sleeps on the couch? And how about the Great Dane? Does he get paid for transporting goods? Are his saddle bags custom made doggie saddle bags? Are he and the cow friends? Okay, okay…I’ll stop, because honestly, I could go on with these questions for quite awhile.
I decided to go a little bit rocker chick with this outfit. I figure even though the shoes have studs, they’re flats so that toned it down a notch or three. The tee is my husbands…I simply “borrowed” it. We saw Matchbox Twenty waayyy back in 2001, and that’s where this tee came from. Almost vintage right? Oddly enough, I used the denim vest to “dress it up” a bit. Denim isn’t necessarily dressy, but it did add some visual interest.

A Little Breathing Room: Sequin Skirt, White Button Down Blouse And Black Sandals

My cousin got married on Saturday and it was a destination wedding of sorts. It was less than an hour from our house, but we decided to spend the night for a little getaway. It was at this fabulous inn on the Allegheny River and it was just so peaceful and relaxing there. I’m pretty sure I could easily just move there. While it’s true you could hear the faint sound of banjo music in the background, it would be well worth it to wake up to that view every morning. I’ve been more than a little stressed lately…a lot of little things conspiring together to cause me to hang from the ceiling by my fingernails. I’m kinda like a hyperactive chihuahua when I get stressed. I can usually talk myself down, but sometimes it snowballs and I temporarily lose the ability to step back. So an evening by a quiet river with the man I love, good people, adult beverages and chocolate dipped Oreos was just what I needed. I think I’ve managed to rein in my inner chihuahua.
How about this skirt? Ah-maze-ing! Am I right? I picked it up during the Nordstrom sale. I saw it in the catalog and I. Had. To. Have. It. I love me some sequins, oh yes I do. And since this wedding was a slightly less formal event I went with the plain button down and not so fancy sandals. Any of you that have been with me for awhile know that I will absolutely most definitely rock this sweet thang at work once school starts up next week. I’ve already got big plans for it with ankle booties and a sweater so it will definitely earn it’s keep this school year.

Kimodigan: Lace Kimono, Sequin Top, Boyfriend Shorts And Leopard Slip-on Sneakers

I’m on a made up word streak lately. How do you like “kimodigan”? This isn’t really a kimono, nor is it a cardigan. Sort of a hybrid between the two, therefore a kimodigan. I’m not gonna lie. I don’t love this one as much as I thought I would when I bought it, even though it was an in store purchase and I tried it on first. I love lace, so there’s that, but it doesn’t have that drapiness that I love. Maybe if I wash it a few times? And skip the dryer..haha! I’m thinking next time I’ll throw it over a plain white tank and see what happens…

Trophy Jacket In A Wind Tunnel: Vintage Trophy Jackey, Baseball Tee And Distressed Skinny Jeans

I am not complaining about the weather, oh, no I’m not. Friday I was able to take my photos outside without being flash frozen, therefore it was a fabulous day in the weather department. With that being said, there was quite a strong wind blowin’ around out there. And to further exacerbate that, the way in which our yard is fenced in creates a small wind tunnel. Sooo….photography was a challenge, but I refused to go inside because it was no nice out. Of course the biggest gusts would come through just as the timer went off on the camera. But I did manage to get some shots of my supremely awesome coat.
Last summer I was on a merciless hunt for a vintage trophy jacket on Ebay. I finally found two that I purchased. One of them fits like it was made for me, but this one not so much. I believe it was made for some extinct species of 1970’s female who had a small body with Popeye size forearms. I mean seriously, when is a jacket too big in the forearms!? I don’t mean just too long in the sleeves, I mean I could fit maybe three more arms in there with mine. I asked my seamstress what the cost would be to alter it and her response was something like, “You don’t even want to know.”  That’s kind of like Price Available Upon Request in the fashion magazines which is code for “No, you cannot have it.” So sadly, I think I’m going to have to sell it on Ebay. At least she got one spin on the blog so we could all admire her greatness.
