Quiet Friday And A $50 Amazon Gift Card Giveaway: Sequin Skirt, Graphic Tee And Gray Cardigan

I’m calling today “Quiet Friday” because I don’t have much to say today. Oh, it’s not that I don’t have a good story or two up my sleeve, it’s just that I’m in a mood. You know what I mean. Those moods where you’re a complete crabasorous rex and everything just seems to irritate you? You feel like your hair is a hot mess, your clothes all look hideous and you just want to curl up under a blanket and alternate between pouting and napping. Well, I’ve been in that kinda mood for the last couple of days. So today we’re just going to focus on the pictures. Speaking of which, this particular outfit was on hold from a couple of weeks ago. I chose to use it today because when I loaded yesterday’s outfit shots on to the computer I discovered that apparently a truly frightening looking demon had taken up residence in my Canon and replaced me in all of the shots. Honest, I’m not having a pity party, but they really were some God-awful photos.
This is one of those outfits where I chose one dressy item (the skirt) and paired it with casual pieces on top (the tee and cardi). Thus the two balanced one another out and made one fine work appropriate outfit. That’s one of my favorite things to do; taking clothing that one would expect to be worn in a specific way and giving it a unique twist to make it work in an unexpected way.
I’ve teamed up with a group of fabulous bloggers to bring you a sweet little giveaway. I mean seriously, who couldn’t use a $50 Amazon gift card? Entering is easy. Simply follow the instructions on the Rafflecopter below and you’re good to go. It runs from today through January 23rd. Good luck!

A Little Breathing Room: Sequin Skirt, White Button Down Blouse And Black Sandals

My cousin got married on Saturday and it was a destination wedding of sorts. It was less than an hour from our house, but we decided to spend the night for a little getaway. It was at this fabulous inn on the Allegheny River and it was just so peaceful and relaxing there. I’m pretty sure I could easily just move there. While it’s true you could hear the faint sound of banjo music in the background, it would be well worth it to wake up to that view every morning. I’ve been more than a little stressed lately…a lot of little things conspiring together to cause me to hang from the ceiling by my fingernails. I’m kinda like a hyperactive chihuahua when I get stressed. I can usually talk myself down, but sometimes it snowballs and I temporarily lose the ability to step back. So an evening by a quiet river with the man I love, good people, adult beverages and chocolate dipped Oreos was just what I needed. I think I’ve managed to rein in my inner chihuahua.
How about this skirt? Ah-maze-ing! Am I right? I picked it up during the Nordstrom sale. I saw it in the catalog and I. Had. To. Have. It. I love me some sequins, oh yes I do. And since this wedding was a slightly less formal event I went with the plain button down and not so fancy sandals. Any of you that have been with me for awhile know that I will absolutely most definitely rock this sweet thang at work once school starts up next week. I’ve already got big plans for it with ankle booties and a sweater so it will definitely earn it’s keep this school year.

Plaid (Again) And Sparkles

I know, I know. Plaid again for the second time in two days.  My husband already pointed that out. Is it really possible to wear too much plaid?  And here’s the thing, how often do you see plaid with sequins?  Not every day I’d be willing to wager.  I found this skirt last year at Piperlime.  I’d been hunting the perfect sequin skirt to dress down for work and this one fit the bill.  The sequins are matte and the subtle neutral color and pencil shape make it ideal for work.  And I got it on clearance so it was a no brainer.

Sequins And Skulls

Sequins and skulls make for an interesting combination, don’t you think?  When you think “sequins”, you don’t immediately think “skulls”.  That would be the reason I decided to put the two together.  I love sparkly things and I’m currently obsessed with skulls so to me, it was just a natural progression.  I don’t wear this skirt very often.  I have a muted gold sequin pencil skirt I wear to work from time to time, but this sweet little gray number doesn’t get much love.  I think it’s because it’s a bit shorter than I like for work. It’s fine for the real world, but you typically won’t find me at Walmart on a Saturday morning sportin’ sequins. Although, maybe I should…how fun would that be?  Could you imagine the looks I’d get from the pajama wearing crowd?!  In any case,  I’ve been thinking about picking up a couple of those skirt extender slips, so maybe if I do one will work with this.
