Moto Jacket & Boyfriend Jeans: An Epic Birthday

Saturday was my official 50th birthday. And I have to say, it was the most epic birthday ever. That is due entirely to my husband, with an assist from our son and two of my cousins. You know how usually, if someone is being thrown a surprise party, they inevitably get suspicious. I had no idea. No. Freakin’. Clue. And this wasn’t just any surprise party. My husband had painstakingly assembled just about every person I love most in the world in one room at a local restaurant; all because he loves me and wanted nothing more than to make me happy. He said that his favorite part was when I squealed when he opened the door. Believe me, I did. When I saw all of those people and I knew they were there because they love me, my heart melted. And like I said, it was a thousand times better because I had no idea what was happening. As you get older, you realize life is more about memories and experiences than anything else, and my 50th birthday party will be one of those memories I cherish the most for the rest of my days.

And what better outfit to be sportin’ during one of the most sentimental beautiful moments of your life than a moto jacket, boyfriend jeans and studded camo boots? Come on, did you expect any less of me? I thought we were going out for dinner and drinks, but you know I would have worn this even had I known. I relentlessly hunted these ankle booties down on Ebay after seeing them on Instagram. I do believe this is their premier appearance on the blog, and ain’t that a cryin’ shame? Are they not crazy fierce? The studs, the buckles, the camo…I die.

Ham & Eggs And A Readers.com Feature: Boyfriend Vest, Plaid Shirt And Converse

I love my job. And here’s one of the primary reasons. While my Life Skills program hasn’t officially started yet, I do teach Life Skills science. Right now we’re studying turkeys. Ummm…it’s November people…what else would we be studying?! Anyway, today I asked my little lovelies what they thought turkeys eat based on what we’d already learned about where they live. They had to write down three possible guesses. In all seriousness, one of my kids listed ham, eggs and apples. That made my day. One of the best answers ever. Who’s to say turkeys don’t have Sunday family brunches complete with ham and eggs? Have you ever been hanging out with a posse of turkeys on a Sunday afternoon? Me neither, so maybe, just maybe, that’s what they eat.
This sweater vest was discovered during the Great Attic Purge of Summer 2014. It was my hubby’s back in the 90’s and when I unearthed it I knew it’s time had come again. Had my ridiculous foot not been hurting I’d have paired this outfit with my leopard pumps to fem it up a bit. Instead I went with the Converse and rocked the total dude look.

Sheldon Suit: Plaid Suit And Quilted Slip On Sneakers

Sometimes my husband comes up with really outstanding descriptions of my outfits. In this case, I’m wearing my “Sheldon suit”.  That cracked me up. For those of you who watch The Big Bang Theory, you get it. This totally is a Sheldon suit. Which only made me love it all the more. I snapped up this blazer last month after falling in love with it on the Target website. Imagine my insane and maybe, just maybe, a bit weird excitement when I saw the matching pants at the Target store this weekend. My daughter was utterly appalled and horrified. I told her she was going to be totally jealous when I rocked this awesomeness. Whether she was or not, I don’t care. This suit is one of my favorite things ever…and that’s saying a lot because normally I despise pants suits, or suits of any kind really. This may well be the only suit in existence that doesn’t make me feel too “buttoned up”. And the nice thing is, both pieces work equally well as separates. I have about a gazillion different ideas in mind to mix them up over the coming months.

Too Tired To See Straight: Camo Pants, White T-Shirt And Leopard Print Sandals

The title about covers it my friends. It’s Thursday night of my first week and my butt is firmly and solidly kicked. I absolutely love my new position, but I am busy, busy, busy. That’s actually a good thing, but with that being said there is definitely an adjustment period for my body…and my brain. Therefore, today’s post is more about the pictures than the words. Don’t worry, once my stamina is built up I’ll be back to entertaining you with my observations on the absurdities of life.
I figured I’d go for a little print mixing using my two favorite prints…camo and leopard. I’m sure you all know by now, leopard is a neutral. If you didn’t, now you do. You’re welcome. I used the pink belt for a pop of color since everything else was pretty subdued color wise. I finished it of with several layers of necklaces to further up the girly factor in opposition to the camo because you know I love opposing elements in an outfit.
