Sequin Top, Joggers & Chambray: Happy First Day Of Spring

Finally, it’s here; the first official day of Spring. And in honor of that I wore… sequins and sweats. Ya, I know. Floral print would have made more sense, but in light of the fact I have inundated you with floral prints lately I figured I’d shake it up a little bit. This is the first time I’ve been to the park recently that it wasn’t buried under three feet of snow so I was able to actually get some shots on this sweet little bridge that goes over our tiny river. (and yes, it is actually a river and not a stream). Since it was a reasonably nice day there was an overabundance (okay, in my mind it was an overabundance) of people in the park. While I wasn’t necessarily in the thick of things, people did actually see me taking photos of myself. And guess what? I didn’t die of embarrassment. I just did my thang and paid them no attention. Trust me, that’s impressive. Usually I get all awkward and whatnot if people are watching me. Maybe once I hit 50 I became one of those babes of a certain age who just has no shame.

This is the sequin top I wore for New Year’s Eve. Since we all know by now (at least we should know) that sequins are allowed out to play on a regular weekday, I paired them with what else? Joggers of course. Because we also know that if we wear sequins during the day we need to dress them down. And really, unless it’s pajama pants, joggers are as dressed down as it gets. Add chambray and leopard and voila! It’s bipolar dressing at it’s finest. I think the next time someone asks me to describe my style in one word that’s the word I’m going to choose.

Floral Skater Skirt, Graphic Tee & Coral Blazer: It’s That Time Of Year

You know…that time of year when you absolutely adamantly refuse to wear another cable knit sweater or pair of boots. Like ever again. Or at least until next Fall when you’re dying to bust them out of storage. Even if we get that usual March snow that seems to happen most years, I will completely refuse to acknowledge it. Because you know, if you ignore something it just goes away, right? On the bright side there’s no snow or uber coldness forecast for the next week so maybe we’ll dodge that bullet this year.

It doesn’t get more Springy than this outfit. You are all aware by now of my love of skater skirts. (See here, here, and here). But this floral skater skirt may well be my favorite. It’s not just any floral; it’s pansies, and pansies are one of my favorite flowers so I imagine you’ll be seeing it around fairly often. I went with my “Fabulous” graphic tee to dress it down and the blazer to, well, dress it back up. How’s that for being all over the place?

Floral Print Tee & Neon Pink Cardigan: Poshmark Is Like Crack

Oh my, oh my…how easily I become obsessed. My newest obsession? Poshmark. Never heard of it? Check it out. Already a member? Then you know what I’m talkin’ about. It’s thrifting to the billionth degree. It’s Ebay for dummies. It’s the best invention in recent history. This floral print tee was one of the things I lusted over from the Prabal Gurung for Target collection, but sadly didn’t get because it sold out. It was $30 and I scored it for $6 and it’s like brand new. I have found so many crazy fabulous things while perusing Poshmark I can’t even tell you. My Posh closet is currently empty, but as soon as I have a minute to sort through things I’m going to start selling because it appears to be pretty easy to do. The buying part is easy, maybe too easy. See it, love it, buy it. Ya, because I needed immediate gratification like that. Hence, the addiction. I always knew I’d be a beast of a thrifter if only I didn’t live in the backwoods of nowhere and had a reasonably cool thrift store nearby. Now I do. In my phone. Outrageously awesome and dangerous all at the same time.

Like I said, this absolutely gorgeous floral print tee was originally from Target. What screams Spring more than crazy bright flowers? Nothing, except maybe crazy bright flowers with a neon pink cardigan and obnoxious shoes. The shoes are also from the Gurung collection. Funny thing about these shoes. Much like these boots they are a hit with boys between the ages of 11 and 14. Kind of a strange demographic don’t ya think? I almost didn’t wear a necklace, but this one caught my eye hanging on my necklace wall, and since it matched the turquoise in the flowers perfectly I threw it on. Worked out rather well I think.

Frog Graphic Tee & Lace Skirt: Chaos NY Collaboration & Discount Code

I was approached a while back by a fabulously cool little boutique in New York called Chaos NY which I had first discovered on Instagram. They carry a cool eclectic mix of items from all over the world. Their mission is to provide colorful chic looks to women everywhere. One of the things that I love about them (aside from the one of a kind gorgeous items) is the fact that they support artists from all over the globe as well as women’s cooperatives in South Africa, India, and South America. They believe in women supporting women and I am all for that.

They offered me a choice of several items and believe me, it was hard to choose. But of course, being me, I went for a graphic tee. And not just any graphic tee…a frog graphic tee. I’ve mentioned before my love of poison dart frogs, and while this wasn’t a poison dart frog it was close enough to make me happy. I couldn’t have been more pleased when it arrived. It’s super soft and loose fitting. It will be perfect even when the temperatures warm up because it’s so lightweight.

I couldn’t wait any longer to wear it, so I had to winterize it by layering it over a chambray button down. And of course I had to pair it with items you wouldn’t expect; a lace skirt and blinged out necklace. I got tons of compliments on it at work. I mean seriously, who wouldn’t love a giant frog on a t-shirt? It will look super cute with my denim boyfriend shorts (ya, I know you all can’t wait for the return of the ever-present summer boyfriend shorts) and Converse once the temperatures reach a level that human beings are able to be outside in without losing body parts to frostbite.

Because I love and appreciate you all so much (and you know that I do), I have a discount code so generously offered by the fine ladies at Chaos NY. From now until March 23rd, enter code FAIRYDUST30 at checkout and receive 30% off. Yes, you read that right…30% off!! So, what are you waiting for? Head over there right now and pick up a unique, hand-crafted item for yourself!
