Floral Skater Skirt, Graphic Tee & Coral Blazer: It’s That Time Of Year

You know…that time of year when you absolutely adamantly refuse to wear another cable knit sweater or pair of boots. Like ever again. Or at least until next Fall when you’re dying to bust them out of storage. Even if we get that usual March snow that seems to happen most years, I will completely refuse to acknowledge it. Because you know, if you ignore something it just goes away, right? On the bright side there’s no snow or uber coldness forecast for the next week so maybe we’ll dodge that bullet this year.

It doesn’t get more Springy than this outfit. You are all aware by now of my love of skater skirts. (See here, here, and here). But this floral skater skirt may well be my favorite. It’s not just any floral; it’s pansies, and pansies are one of my favorite flowers so I imagine you’ll be seeing it around fairly often. I went with my “Fabulous” graphic tee to dress it down and the blazer to, well, dress it back up. How’s that for being all over the place?

Purple Allergies And A Giveaway: Purple Skater Skirt, Black Blazer, Black Sweater And Black

Purple is my favorite color and ironically I’m allergic to it. I kid you not. True story. I discovered that bizarre fact in high school when one afternoon at school my eyes swelled almost completely shut and I determined it was the purple eye shadow I was wearing. But did I learn my lesson? Nooo…Over the years I wanted to wear purple eye makeup so badly that I’d periodically give it a try and lo and behold, my eyes would turn bright red and swell up.
Flash forward to two years ago. Don’t fret, I’m plenty old enough to have learned my lesson in regard to purple eyeliner. But what didn’t occur to me with my 40-something wisdom was that maybe, just maybe, my newest tattoo should not include purple ink. Yes my friends, I of the purple dye allergy allowed a man with a needle to inject purple ink under the surface of my skin. Can you say Oh. My. God. Am I a total moron? Not usually, but in that case…ummm…yes. The entire area where the tattoo was swelled up into a huge itchy red hive. I totally freaked out when I realized what was going on. All kinds of crazy thoughts went through my head…Was I going to die? Would my arm develop some huge incurable infection? Would my entire body become one giant hive???? Ya, I can be a bit of a drama queen on occasion. Fortunately for me, after several days and a tube or three of antibiotic itch ointment my body was like, “Eh, what the hell? It’s in here, I might as well adapt.” All’s well that ends well. Needless to say, any future tats will not include purple ink.
This is one the fab collection of skater skirts (herehere and here) that I ordered from Boohoo.com last summer. Like I often do when I want a piece to stand out, I paired it with all black. The blazer layered over the sweater was a must since the morning temperatures are already in the single digits (seriously, WTH?!). That would also be the reason I went with taller boots over ankle booties. A girl’s gotta keep warm, right?
Now on to the giveaway I promised. In honor of reaching so many follower milestones in one week I wanted to send out hugs, kisses and a great big thank you to you all! So I put together a little “Winter Faves” Giveaway. The giveaway includes two (yes, two!) infinity scarves; a plaid and also a black one, a pair of layered gloves that can be worn three ways, my all-time favorite Chapstick Cake Batter Lip Balm and finally, what giveaway would be complete without some fab neckbling? So go ahead my friends…enter away! Good luck! The giveaway is open through next Friday and the winner will be announced the following Monday.

The September Chickens Issue: Floral Sweater, Blue Skater Skirt And Burgundy Ankle Booties

If you are at all like me, each year as summer winds down, you eagerly anticipate the September issues of all of the fashion magazines. I mean those suckers are juicy…when they arrive it’s like when I was a little kid and the Sears Christmas catalog finally came in the mail. Oh, the anticipation! Well, apparently that is also true for fans of poultry.
The other day I was in line at Tractor Supply to buy dog food. As I waited I absentmindedly scanned the racks by the checkout. And there it was….the September issue of Chickens Magazine. Oh yes, my friends. And the cover chicken was sporting a fab lime green scarf and beanie hat, complete with a pom pom. My two most favorite cover articles were “Keep Fowl Feet Feeling Fine” and “Cold Chillin': Winter Treats Make For Happy Hens”. It’s true that I am easily amused, but I thought it was one of the greatest things ever that there’s a big September edition of Chickens Magazine…whether it be for chickens or fans of chickens, that’s just funny stuff.
Is this sweater not to die for? It was one of my three scores during the Nordstrom Annual Sale. I love it…it’s lightweight so it can be layered over or under something, it’s soft and comfy and the colors are absolutely gorgeous. And it will work equally well with jeans. This is yet another boohoo.com skater skirt. No, I don’t have some rarely diagnosed skater skirt addiction. These skirts just rock, and when you find something that works you need to stock up. I didn’t own any navy blue skirts so this one was perfect to fill the void. I went with ankle boots because pumps or flats would be too expected. I’ve always gotta mix it up a little just to keep it interesting.

The Unexpected Benefit Of Middle School: White Skater Skirt, Plaid Button Down And Red Booties

What might the benefit be to returning to middle school you might be wondering? Umm…a smaller ass. Yes, folks it’s true. Returning to the middle school had given me the gift of a shrinking butt; well actually it’s an even, all over shrinking, but to me most noticeably my ass. Is middle school the weight loss secret we’ve all been searching for? Not so much. It’s more an absence of candy dishes ripe for the picking and the addition of stairs. I do lots of running up and down stairs all day long and even if there were a candy dish lurking about I really don’t have time to partake. So the secret is really what we all know it to be…less crap in and more calories out. I have like zero willpower which is why I rarely buy junk food, so if there is a candy dish (and I mean a good one with mini Snickers and whatnot) I cannot keep my greedy little paws out of it. Fortunately, that’s no longer an issue.
Yes, this is yet another skater skirt from BooHoo (see the pink one here and black here). I wasn’t kidding when I said I have it in five colors. I love, love, love them. Since I’m short they are the perfect length for me~just above the knee. In light of the fact it is definitely heading into Fall, I thought a little plaid was in order. If you’ve been around since last Fall/Winter you know there’s a lot more of that headed your way. I wore the denim jacket just to keep away the hint of chill this morning, but oddly enough it was so cool in the building that I actually wore it until after lunch. Weird, considering my nose melted off of my face in there Friday.
