Cream Kimono & Floral Tee: What A Difference A Day Makes

In Thursday’s post I talked about how as much as I love my job, sometimes it is thoroughly emotionally exhausting. On the flip side, Friday reminded me of why exactly I do what I do. My principal’s mom owns an absolutely beautiful Samoyed named Rosie who happens to be a therapy dog. She had asked me if perhaps I would like Rosie to come visit my class…of course I jumped on that! It’s not like my love of all members of the canine persuasion is any secret.

Rosie came to visit on Friday. The kids all got to pet and talk with her, see a few tricks and learn about how to appropriately interact with dogs. I do not have the words to fully explain to you the utter joy my kids got from spending time with her. When Rosie walked in the “ooh’s” and “aahs” sounded like we were watching a fireworks display. They were completely delighted with everything she did. There were so many times while watching them with Rosie that I teared up. Hell, I’m tearing up while writing this. When I can give them something that they will truly learn from and remember, something that makes even a small difference in their worlds, that’s when I’m reminded of how worth it my job really is.

This cream kimono is such a perfect example of floaty ethereal awesomeness, is it not? It was one of my very first Poshmark purchases. I’ve been waiting for the weather to cooperate with me so that I could wear it; below zero weather doesn’t exactly go hand in hand with “floaty ethereal awesomeness”. Since Spring has officially sprung, I thought it would be fabulous over my floral tee, and the boyfriend jeans kept all the girliness grounded. And to make it even better, my first Rocksbox arrived and the delicious delicate gold Gorjana bangle I found inside was perfect with the kimono.

Originally I wasn’t sure about collaborating with Rocksbox because I’ve seen them all over Instagram and it was predominantly younger bloggers. I did some investigating and decided that it’s a pretty cool concept for girls of any age. It’s a subscription service and for $19.99 a month you get a box with three pieces of jewelry chosen based on your profile. You can send them back and trade them in for different pieces as many times as you’d like with free shipping both ways. And if there is something you truly love, you can buy it…pretty sweet! All three pieces that came in my first box were right on the money; I would have chosen each of the pieces myself. If you’d like to give it a try with no commitment, it’s your lucky day. Enter “fashionfairydustxoxo” at checkout and try it out for free for one month. If you aren’t totally diggin’ it, you can cancel at any time.

Floral Skater Skirt, Graphic Tee & Coral Blazer: It’s That Time Of Year

You know…that time of year when you absolutely adamantly refuse to wear another cable knit sweater or pair of boots. Like ever again. Or at least until next Fall when you’re dying to bust them out of storage. Even if we get that usual March snow that seems to happen most years, I will completely refuse to acknowledge it. Because you know, if you ignore something it just goes away, right? On the bright side there’s no snow or uber coldness forecast for the next week so maybe we’ll dodge that bullet this year.

It doesn’t get more Springy than this outfit. You are all aware by now of my love of skater skirts. (See here, here, and here). But this floral skater skirt may well be my favorite. It’s not just any floral; it’s pansies, and pansies are one of my favorite flowers so I imagine you’ll be seeing it around fairly often. I went with my “Fabulous” graphic tee to dress it down and the blazer to, well, dress it back up. How’s that for being all over the place?

The Best Kind Of Camouflage: Floral Pencil Skirt, Pink Sweater And Nude Flats

I’m having one of those weeks where I’m drop dead exhausted and yet can’t seem to sleep. No reason for it, it just happens sometimes. Through a serendipitous turn of events I was approached by Readers.com to give a few pairs of their readers from their upcoming holiday collection a spin. Why serendipitous? Well, because they have sunglasses, and what better way is there to camouflage my sleepy face then behind some fabulous sunnies. Made even more fabulous because I can actually read when I’m wearing them.
Readers.com is a family owned business which is perhaps why they have such phenomenal customer service. Friendly, quick to answer questions, and super fast shipping…what more could you ask for? And these aren’t your typical drugstore readers. They have a huge selection of super chic frames in a wide range of powers and the price is definitely right. Yes, I do wear prescription glasses, but I always keep several pairs of readers stashed in various places like a squirrel with acorns. I have a bad habit of taking my glasses off and leaving them to be sucked into some temporary black hole. So spare pairs are a good idea since I can’t read at all without them. If you are on the market for reading glasses I recommend you give them a look because you’re sure to find a style you love.
I swear I left the house wearing nude pumps this morning. But you guys know I always take a spare pair (kinda like my glasses) because I never know when my foot is going to start acting a fool and demanding something more comfortable. After about two hours, out came the flats. Pencil skirts are a tricky business with flats, so I made sure I had a pair with a pointier toe so it gave the illusion of a more streamlined look. At least in my mind it did.

Change Is In The Air: Pinstripe Blazer, Embellished Skirt And Graphic Tee

Change is literally in the air. When I left for work this morning, it was summer. When I left to come home, it was winter. Okay, perhaps that was a bit of hyperbole. But I kid you not, this morning it was 73 and humid and by 3:30 it was 58 and most definitely not humid. It was downright nippy. All the predictions I’ve read (and that’s a lot…remember my weather obsession?) are calling for snow by October. Really, now? Much like Fall jumped the gun and showed up in August, if it snows in October winter needs to back the hell off. Fall is my favorite season and it’s not cool if they have to spread salt and plow the corn maze.
I know the blazer and skirt aren’t the same color, but they are in the same family. I was going for a neutral/nude pallet and I thought the two of them played well together. I rediscovered this skirt during my summer attic adventure (which I still need to finish…). I love the stud embellishment and the ruching. It takes an ordinary skirt and makes it kinda special. I’m also diggin’ the studs on the back of the shoes playing off of the studs on the skirt. And yes, I would’ve probably liked it better with my nude pumps, but alas, the foot is not cooperating; therefore, flats.
