Floral Blouse, Lounge Pants & Denim Vest: The Holy Grail

So often I read about finding their “holy grail” whether it be the perfect red lipstick, the just right jeans, the hair product that gives them Giselle hair, whatever. While I do have certain products and/or brands of clothing I’m super loyal to I don’t know that I’ve ever found my “holy grail” (although my GAP boyfriend jeans are pretty damn close) of anything. That is until now. This is in no way a sponsored post. Believe me, I’d be doing a happy dance if it was. Strivectin, my friends. Strivectin. Case closed, done deal. I will never use another facial moisturizer again. I’ve always been curious, but truth be told, I didn’t want to spend the money to find out it didn’t work. Because my friends, it ain’t cheap; at least not by my definition.

I finally decided about a month ago to give it a go and it is hands down awesome. I’ve always used Olay Regenerist and maybe it was holding things at bay, but I never noticed an actual difference. After about a week using the Strivectin I saw a noticeable difference around my eyes and on my neck. I always use it in the morning and shoot for before bed, but here’s a dirty little secret for ya, I don’t always get around to washing off my makeup at night. Oh, the horror. Most nights I do use it, but not always. I love it so much, I actually sprung for the eye cream the other day. I’ll report back after I’ve used it for awhile. To sum it up, did it make me look 25? No. Did it make the transgressions of my youth and the march of time less obvious? Yes. Will it work for you? Who knows, but you might want to give it a try. View this as a public service announcement to my friends “of a certain age” as well as to my younger pals…because hey, a little prevention might go a long way. You’ll thank me later.

How about this floral blouse? Is it not gorgeous? Where did I find this little gem? Wait for it….Tractor Supply. Many moons ago I also found this belt at Tractor Supply as well. I know, why am I shopping at Tractor Supply? Actually, I was there for dog food and spied this on the clearance rack on my way to the pet aisle. This goes to show you, keep an open mind in regard to where you look for clothes and accessories. I often shop in the men’s department, the boys department, and I recently picked up a gorgeous scarf at our local small town pharmacy. Cool things can be found just about anywhere if you keep your eyes open.

I was originally going to pair it with my navy blue GAP khakis, but, um…I may have ingested one or three too many packages of Red Velvet Oreos last month and therefore my khakis weren’t fitting in the most attractive manner. Hence, the lounge pants. Honest, they are the exact shade of burgundy that’s in the flowers on the top. For some reason every time I photograph them they seem to read brick red in the photos. You’ll just have to take my word for it.

Floral Leggings, Chiffon Tunic & Moto Jacket: Fab Outfit But Nothing To Say

Did you ever have one of those days where even though there is surely a plethora of great stories knocking around in your brain you can’t think of a damn thing to say. Well, today is one of those days. Maybe my g-ma hangover has extended into two days and thus the wiring in my brain is still shorting out. Baby boy had his first sleep over ever with grandpops and I Saturday night, and I have to say it’s a good thing I was in my twenties while dealing with babies. It kicked my butt to the point I slept all day Sunday. Literally. All day. To be fair, the problem was predominantly my four legged fur children. Umm…jealous much? I do have to say though, exhaustion aside, nothing beats a little bundle of baby yumminess sleeping on your chest with his face buried in your neck.

I warned you all about the onslaught of leggings the other day and here is yet another example of my new obsession. These floral leggings were on sale at JCPenney’s and of course they caught my eye. In keeping with the covering of the girly bits I wore the sheer tunic over top which covered what needed covered while still allowing the print to peek through. The moto jacket added a bit of edge and of course warmth because seriously my friends, it was like 15 degrees outside today. Warmth was mandatory.

Moving Day: Floral Bomber, Plaid Pants, Burgundy Booties

Today is the big day! Fashion Fairy Dust is all grown up and moved from Blogger to self-hosted. The new address is www.fashionfairydust.com just so ya all know where to find me. This is both exciting and scary. Exciting because, well, hey…I have my own web address and I own my content. Scary because I don’t know a thing about WordPress and so it’s like starting all over again. When I first opened up my dashboard to do this post I just about had a freakin’ panic attack. I know I’ll figure it all out in time, but until then bear with me.

Apparently unbeknownst to my conscious mind I’m on a print mixing binge. Today I paired my favorite plaid pants with this super cute floral bomber I picked up a few months back. The key to any effective print mix, at least in my opinion, is to keep your prints in the same color family. You also need to keep in mind the scale of the prints. One can be a bit more bold as long as the other (or others) are low key. As a side note, both the turtleneck (which is another of the batch I scored at Old Navy) as well as the print in the jacket are burgundy although they photographed more on the brick red side.

Cuss Word Quota: Boyfriend Jeans, Cashmere Sweater And Graphic Tee

Tuesday morning my husband had an appointment to have pins removed from his wrist. It’s about an hour drive so we left bright and early at 5:30 a.m. Of course it was pitch dark and it’s deer season so there would be plenty of the local wildlife running amok. Instead of taking the curvy dark back road to get to the interstate, to lessen our chances of an unwanted relationship with a deer, I took a more “main” road, which in our world translates into a slightly wider two-lane road running through woods and cornfields. About a mile and a half from home a fine male specimen of the deer persuasion ran out of a field on my left and kinda trotted up the road beside me. Needless to say much swearing and brake slamming commenced.
By the time we made it to the interstate it was pouring down rain. I mean pouring. Not cats and dogs. More like mountain lions and timber wolves. I couldn’t see but what seemed like a few feet ahead of me. It was one of those rare times I think I would’ve preferred snow so at least I could see. Add into this hot mess my now overwhelming fear of rocks hitting my windshield (remember, two windshields in the last three months) and I was swearing up a blue streak; sometimes in my head, sometimes out loud. By 7:00 a.m. I had straight up used my quota of cuss words for the day, quite possibly for two or three days.
At least I was smart enough to dress comfortably. My now favorite boyfriend jeans and a cashmere cardi were just what I needed. Although I think my tee that says “I’m a lady with the vocabulary of a well educated sailor” would’ve been more appropriate all things considered.
