Moto Jacket & Boyfriend Jeans: An Epic Birthday

Saturday was my official 50th birthday. And I have to say, it was the most epic birthday ever. That is due entirely to my husband, with an assist from our son and two of my cousins. You know how usually, if someone is being thrown a surprise party, they inevitably get suspicious. I had no idea. No. Freakin’. Clue. And this wasn’t just any surprise party. My husband had painstakingly assembled just about every person I love most in the world in one room at a local restaurant; all because he loves me and wanted nothing more than to make me happy. He said that his favorite part was when I squealed when he opened the door. Believe me, I did. When I saw all of those people and I knew they were there because they love me, my heart melted. And like I said, it was a thousand times better because I had no idea what was happening. As you get older, you realize life is more about memories and experiences than anything else, and my 50th birthday party will be one of those memories I cherish the most for the rest of my days.

And what better outfit to be sportin’ during one of the most sentimental beautiful moments of your life than a moto jacket, boyfriend jeans and studded camo boots? Come on, did you expect any less of me? I thought we were going out for dinner and drinks, but you know I would have worn this even had I known. I relentlessly hunted these ankle booties down on Ebay after seeing them on Instagram. I do believe this is their premier appearance on the blog, and ain’t that a cryin’ shame? Are they not crazy fierce? The studs, the buckles, the camo…I die.

Floral Leggings, Chiffon Tunic & Moto Jacket: Fab Outfit But Nothing To Say

Did you ever have one of those days where even though there is surely a plethora of great stories knocking around in your brain you can’t think of a damn thing to say. Well, today is one of those days. Maybe my g-ma hangover has extended into two days and thus the wiring in my brain is still shorting out. Baby boy had his first sleep over ever with grandpops and I Saturday night, and I have to say it’s a good thing I was in my twenties while dealing with babies. It kicked my butt to the point I slept all day Sunday. Literally. All day. To be fair, the problem was predominantly my four legged fur children. Umm…jealous much? I do have to say though, exhaustion aside, nothing beats a little bundle of baby yumminess sleeping on your chest with his face buried in your neck.

I warned you all about the onslaught of leggings the other day and here is yet another example of my new obsession. These floral leggings were on sale at JCPenney’s and of course they caught my eye. In keeping with the covering of the girly bits I wore the sheer tunic over top which covered what needed covered while still allowing the print to peek through. The moto jacket added a bit of edge and of course warmth because seriously my friends, it was like 15 degrees outside today. Warmth was mandatory.

Zombie Apocalypse Averted: Bulldog Sweatshirt, Moto Jacket And Bearpaw Boots

Yesterday was supposed to be my first day back to school after the holidays, but we got a call Sunday night saying school was cancelled. Why? Was it the snow? Polar vortex perhaps? No. It was an outbreak of the mumps. Wait, what?! I literally listened to the message four times and had my husband listen to it twice. Who gets the mumps in this day and age? And an outbreak no less. It was actually on our evening news last night. Complete with CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health involvement and everything.
My son and I decided it was most likely the dawn of the zombie apocalypse; commenced by an outbreak of the mumps. Who knew civilization would go down due to a childhood illness that hasn’t been around for years? And it would all start in a small town in Northwest Pennsylvania. Genius really I suppose. Instead of some top secret government produced virus that somehow escaped from an underground facility in the desert, society would be taken down by the mumps. Now that would make a fabulous end of the world movie. Who’d see that one coming?
You can breathe a sigh of relief though. The Department of Health has decided it wasn’t really an “outbreak” per se so we can return to school tomorrow. Thankfully my return to work means the zombie apocalypse has been averted. You’re welcome.
Is this sweatshirt not crazy fabulous? It’s from the I Heart Ronson line at JCPenney. I first spotted it on Instagram back in September and I had to have it.  Since it wasn’t going to be available until November I screenshot it and saved it…yes, I’m that OCD. The day it was available I went and snatched one up for my husband to give me for Christmas. And yes, I made him wrap it. The Bearpaw boots were also a months long obsession that later became another Christmas gift. Be forewarned, the sweatshirt will appear again in the next few weeks, but of course it will be the more dressed up version for work.

Hip Waders: Over The Knee Boots, Distressed Skinny Jeans And Moto Jacket

Over the knee boots are one of those things that has taken me years, literally years, to come around to. I’ve always called them pretty woman boots. They remind me of Julia Roberts’ hooker outfit from the movie Pretty Woman. And then there’s the fact I’m elfin size, so I always figured they would look like hip waders on me. Needless to say a hooker elf wearing hip waders is not exactly the look I’m shooting for most days of the week.
This pair surprisingly hits at just the right height as to avoid the “I’m goin’ fishin’ after I finish my shift on the corner” look. It also helps that they’re flat. I got these from JustFab recently due to my forgetting for the second time this year to opt out for the month. I’ve decided that over Christmas break I’m going to bite the bullet and end my relationship with them. I don’t forget often to opt out, but when I do it pisses me off because I hate feeling like I’m forced to buy something, which in essence I am. While I do really like these (they have a soft fleecy lining, so they’re really warm and comfy), would I have bought them if I wasn’t already charged for the month? No, probably not.
