Sequin Top, Joggers & Chambray: Happy First Day Of Spring

Finally, it’s here; the first official day of Spring. And in honor of that I wore… sequins and sweats. Ya, I know. Floral print would have made more sense, but in light of the fact I have inundated you with floral prints lately I figured I’d shake it up a little bit. This is the first time I’ve been to the park recently that it wasn’t buried under three feet of snow so I was able to actually get some shots on this sweet little bridge that goes over our tiny river. (and yes, it is actually a river and not a stream). Since it was a reasonably nice day there was an overabundance (okay, in my mind it was an overabundance) of people in the park. While I wasn’t necessarily in the thick of things, people did actually see me taking photos of myself. And guess what? I didn’t die of embarrassment. I just did my thang and paid them no attention. Trust me, that’s impressive. Usually I get all awkward and whatnot if people are watching me. Maybe once I hit 50 I became one of those babes of a certain age who just has no shame.

This is the sequin top I wore for New Year’s Eve. Since we all know by now (at least we should know) that sequins are allowed out to play on a regular weekday, I paired them with what else? Joggers of course. Because we also know that if we wear sequins during the day we need to dress them down. And really, unless it’s pajama pants, joggers are as dressed down as it gets. Add chambray and leopard and voila! It’s bipolar dressing at it’s finest. I think the next time someone asks me to describe my style in one word that’s the word I’m going to choose.

New Year’s Eve Musings: Sequin Top, Boyfriend Jeans And Leopard Ankle Booties

Well, here it is; the first post of 2015. My husband and I haven’t gone out for New Year’s Eve in over seven years. This year we decided to spend the night in this fabulous little inn on the Allegheny River with my cousin, her husband and our son and his boyfriend. We had an excellent time and believe me, there was no shortage of things there to observe and entertain me.
I think my most favorite was probably the drunk girl on the knee cruiser. Don’t know what a knee cruiser is? Take a gander here. On a side note, my soon to be foot surgeon had offered to do my surgery back in the fall if I used one of these fab little devices at work. Um, no thank you. Especially because there’s steps. Just picture that for a minute…
Anyway, there was a girl at the bar who had had one or ten too many beverages. And she was toolin’ around on a knee cruiser. Trust me, highly entertaining. And it begs the question, if you’re totally wiped and scooting around on a knee cruiser does that constitute a DUI? Just something to think about my friends.
There used to be a gentleman who lived in my hood and we called him “the lawnmower man”. Why, you ask? Because that was his form of transportation; a riding lawnmower. And his most frequent place to go was the local bar. On a riding lawnmower. On a four-lane divided highway. And yes, he did receive numerous DUI citations until finally we no longer saw him. I’m assuming they towed away his riding lawnmower. Perhaps he should have gotten himself a knee cruiser.
This was my New Year’s Eve outfit…dressy, but casual. I mean seriously, did you expect anything different from me? I’ll be honest though. It was waayyy colder on the Allegheny River so I threw a turtleneck underneath the sequin top. It still looked festively fabulous, but was more weather appropriate. I apologize for the recent frequent appearance of these jeans, but they are my new favorites after all and since I’m on vacay from work there’s been no reason to wear anything else. Except maybe my sweats, but not so much in a fashiony way…more in a “I’m not leaving the house so why put on real clothes” kinda way.

Year In Review Part Two: Favorite Outfits July Thru December 2014

Can you believe it? Today is the last day of 2014. It really does seem like the older you get the faster the time goes by. Speaking of time going by and getting older, yesterday I had one of those moments that brings a tear to your eye because it brings into sharp focus just how fast the time does go. Mini me and I had finished up spending all of her Justice gift cards and I decided to do a quick walk-thru at Forever 21. Do you know what happened? I didn’t find anything, but I bought my daughter her first ever item of clothing from Forever 21. Umm…she’s ten. She was so excited to get something from a big girl’s store and I was so, well, sad. Granted, it was a skirt that on a grown up would have been a total hooker skirt. I mean seriously, it was teeny tiny. With that being said, it is the perfect little black pencil skirt on her. And what made me proud? She chose the black one because “she could do more with it”. Oh, I have trained her well.
I want to take a moment to thank all of you for your support and kind words this year. Without my readers I wouldn’t have a blog so really, I owe it all to you. I wish you all a fabulous New Year and I look forward to an even better 2015!

Bird Pants And One Of My Favorite Outfits Ever: Faux Fur Vest, Plaid Flannel, Sequin Top And Boyfriend Jeans

You might be asking yourself, “What are bird pants? Maybe a really cute pair of pants with little birds on them?” No. I’m talking bird pants. As in actual pants on birds. Due to my recent discovery of this avian fashion statement, I’m just a hair less terrified of our winged co-planetary inhabitants.
The other day my husband and I were on our way home and sitting right next to the road was a hawk. I’ve seen them before, but never this close. He was sporting the most fab pair of feathered pantaloons I’ve ever seen. Click here to see what I’m talking about. And it doesn’t stop there my friends. Because I’m a freak, I started googling other birds that absolutely terrify me and lo and behold, bald eagles and crows also have chic little feather pants. Who knew? I might have to change my whole belief system in regard to those of the avian persuasion.
And now on to what is perhaps my favorite outfit ever. I don’t know what bit of divine inspiration hit me, but I knew I wanted to wear my new faux fur vest and that obviously called for layers. I snagged the flannel out of the closet and then it hit me….sequins! How can you go wrong with fur and sequins? Well, really you can’t. And in an unprecedented sartorial choice I (maybe for the first time ever) I did not cuff my boyfriend jeans. What craziness is this?! But somehow it worked. Maybe it has something to do with the boots that stopped the world. I’m pretty sure these boots make anything awesome.
