Sequin Leggings, White Tunic & Chucks: Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend

When I was first approached by Anjolee to review a piece of their jewelry I was hesitant, but only because I typically focus more on the clothes than the accessories. I decided to do it because hey, there are two truths in life: 1. Accessories make the outfit; and 2. Diamonds (or in this case, cubic zirconia) are a girl’s best friend. Anjolee’s primary focus is diamond anniversary rings and wedding rings, but they also carry a substantial selection of earrings, necklaces and bracelets. I decided to give the diamond stud earrings a go, and I have to tell you they are drop dead stunning. They’re a really substantial piece of jewelry; you can tell just by looking at them that they are well made. And probably most importantly, they are best friend approved. I wore them over the weekend to the birthday festivities and my bestie thought they were fabulous and that’s really all that I needed to know. Quite honestly, it would probably have never occurred to me to look into purchasing high quality jewelry online, but considering how stellar the quality of these earrings is I would definitely consider Anjolee.

Talk about including opposing elements in an outfit. How’s sequin leggings and Chuck’s for opposition? I hadn’t worn the sequin leggings to work yet, and I’d actually had a couple of requests that I do so; sometimes I have a sneaking suspicion that people like to live vicariously through my fashion choices. The last time I wore them was here for our Christmas party. Anyway, today was a sultry and balmy 40 degrees so I decided the white dolman sleeve tunic tee and Chucks would be the perfect transitional pieces with the leggings. It was kinda like wearing blinged out pajamas to work which was actually a really good thing considering I’m recovering from an overindulgence hangover.

Year In Review Part Two: Favorite Outfits July Thru December 2014

Can you believe it? Today is the last day of 2014. It really does seem like the older you get the faster the time goes by. Speaking of time going by and getting older, yesterday I had one of those moments that brings a tear to your eye because it brings into sharp focus just how fast the time does go. Mini me and I had finished up spending all of her Justice gift cards and I decided to do a quick walk-thru at Forever 21. Do you know what happened? I didn’t find anything, but I bought my daughter her first ever item of clothing from Forever 21. Umm…she’s ten. She was so excited to get something from a big girl’s store and I was so, well, sad. Granted, it was a skirt that on a grown up would have been a total hooker skirt. I mean seriously, it was teeny tiny. With that being said, it is the perfect little black pencil skirt on her. And what made me proud? She chose the black one because “she could do more with it”. Oh, I have trained her well.
I want to take a moment to thank all of you for your support and kind words this year. Without my readers I wouldn’t have a blog so really, I owe it all to you. I wish you all a fabulous New Year and I look forward to an even better 2015!

Party Pants Part Two: Blue Sequin Leggings, Plaid Button Down, Black Pumps

If there were ever a pair of pants that could claim the title “Party Pants” it’s these. Although I do have a pair of black joggers, seen here, that are equally worthy. I mean seriously, you cannot cover a pair of pants in sequins and not have them become party pants. And I don’t mean you have to wear them to an actual party. I mean that just wearing them makes it a party.
The key for me is both pairs are covered in a more matte sequin as opposed to a super sparkly sequin. That would be the difference between “party pants” and “I partied way too much and am hung over for three days filled with regrets pants”. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for sparkly sequins. It’s just for me personally I don’t want my ass looking like a disco ball.
I actually did wear these for a Christmas party, although you all know that I will absolutely wear them to work. I’m thinking when I do, I’ll pair them with a sweater or blazer, my Converses and a less blingy necklace to tone them down a bit. With a statement piece like these pants, it really comes down to the extras that you add to make them workable for different situations.
