Boyfriend Jeans, White Button Down & Hoodie: Here’s Your Sign

It’s no secret that I live a culturally deprived life in that the nearest Target is about 35 minutes from my house. I do however live halfway between two Walmarts; the nexus between the two if you will. The store that I frequent is the one most of my friends go to although it certainly isn’t lacking in the pajama wearing no bra contingent. It’s the “Super” Walmart. On the other hand, the other store is the stereotypical backwoods Walmart. The majority of individuals are wearing some form of pajamas in addition to truly momentous mullets and less than the regular number of teeth allotted by nature. Perhaps I’m being a bit pretentious, but hey, it is what it is. What I speak is the truth, and it is based on first-person observation. No judgement here because truth be told these are the type of people I come from…ahh…but that’s a story for another day.

In any case, I had to stop by the backwoods Walmart the other day. There’s a sign on the door (professionally made with the little black shadow people, like on street signs and restroom doors) reminding the reader to stop and make sure that they did not leave their children in the car since, you know, that might be dangerous or something. I jest you not. That is a real sign. Are. You. Kidding. Me??? If you need a sign to remind you not to forget your children in the car then maybe, just maybe, child rearing is not your forte. Perhaps owning a pet isn’t a stellar idea either. If you want something to raise, maybe pick up a Chia Pet while you’re in Walmart. Or a cactus; they require even less attention.

This is one my favorite bipolar chic outfits. The white button down, burgundy pumps and statement necklace scream dressy; the boyfriend jeans and hoodie say eh…I’m kickin’ back today. A white button down works with pretty much anything and in any environment. If there is one piece of clothing everyone should own, this may well be it. You can dress it way up or way down, I’ve even seen white button downs worn as bathing suit cover-ups. As for the boyfriend jeans, well they are my number one favorite style of jeans. They’re loose and low-slung and don’t make me feel like an uncomfortable cow after I may or may not have devoured an entire package of Limited Edition Red Velvet Oreos. There’s not a pair of skinny jeans in existence that can handle that kind of crazy.

Year In Review Part Two: Favorite Outfits July Thru December 2014

Can you believe it? Today is the last day of 2014. It really does seem like the older you get the faster the time goes by. Speaking of time going by and getting older, yesterday I had one of those moments that brings a tear to your eye because it brings into sharp focus just how fast the time does go. Mini me and I had finished up spending all of her Justice gift cards and I decided to do a quick walk-thru at Forever 21. Do you know what happened? I didn’t find anything, but I bought my daughter her first ever item of clothing from Forever 21. Umm…she’s ten. She was so excited to get something from a big girl’s store and I was so, well, sad. Granted, it was a skirt that on a grown up would have been a total hooker skirt. I mean seriously, it was teeny tiny. With that being said, it is the perfect little black pencil skirt on her. And what made me proud? She chose the black one because “she could do more with it”. Oh, I have trained her well.
I want to take a moment to thank all of you for your support and kind words this year. Without my readers I wouldn’t have a blog so really, I owe it all to you. I wish you all a fabulous New Year and I look forward to an even better 2015!

Of Unicorns And The Loch Ness Monster: Black Pants, White Button Down And Pink Flats

Seeing me in actual dress pants is much the same as unicorns and the Loch Ness monster. People claim to have seen them, but there isn’t really any proof that it happened. I so rarely wear dress pants that no one can be sure they ever actually saw it. I mean actual dress pants, not colored khakis or printed joggers. I’m not sure why that is. It’s not like I’ve had some dress pants related psychological trauma.
I picked this pair up during the Nordstrom sale a couple months ago. I figured it was just plain silly to not have a pair of black dress pants that was under ten years old. They have a really pretty but subtle textured polka dot print to them that didn’t come out in the photos at all. Trust me, it’s there though. Black dress pants are one of those staple items that every girl should have. They are kind of the universal go-to of the pants world. That’s what attracted me to the textured print; it made standard issue black dress pants a little more special.
The white button down was an easy pairing. The shoes and necklace are the real outfit makers here. The bright pink of the shoes and the ginormous neck bling take the outfit from boring and uninteresting to something even middle school girls think is cool. And believe me, there’s very little that middle school girls find to be cool.

Startled Into Silence: Skinny Boyfriend Jeans, White Blouse And Nude Sandals

Let me point something as to avoid any confusion…I’m actually writing today’s post today. It’s Friday morning right now, so this in real time my friends. Usually I write them at night so today is really yesterday and tomorrow is today…you get what I’m saying, right? Anyway, I mentioned previously that my seamstress mysteriously vanished. After putting some thought into it, I remembered that back in the day I had gone to a lady who did a fab job on this killer red trench coat I had. So yesterday I arrived at her shop with my little pile of clothing, I walked in and greeted her all perky and friendly and whatnot and you know what? She straight up verbally bitch-slapped me. I don’t remember the last time someone (especially someone who owns their own business) was so blatantly rude. I was so taken aback by it that I was speechless. I know you guys don’t actually “know” me in real life, but I think it’s probably apparent through my writing that I take crap from no one. No. One. I give back as good as I get. It would seem though that she absolutely immobilized my ability to verbally decimate someone with her evil laser beam of bitchy.
I finally comprehended the fact that she asked if I would like to make an appointment to come back another day. I stammered and stuttered while mentally mulling over whether I should go across the counter at her like a spider monkey. In the end, I decided to make the appointment because currently I have no one else and I know she can sew well. On the way home I stopped by my dog groomer who helped me track down my beloved seamstress on Facebook (Ya, I know….dog groomer, finds previous seamstress…what??). Hey, I’ve told you, I live in a reaaallly small town area. The dog groomer is kind of like a hair salon as far as being the hub of gossip and information. I messaged said seamstress and am currently awaiting a response.
In about an hour, I’m off to spend some quality time with this lovely new seamstress. Trust me, I’m ready for her this time. I am now impervious to her laser beam of nasty and have my own armed and ready to fire. Hopefully my charm works instead because I’d really like my midi skirts to not be maxi skirts by the time school starts.
This outfit pretty much speaks for itself; white button down blouse, jeans, nude sandals. But I did want to mention my cute little wristlet/cell phone case. This is the pretty little culprit behind the near tragic Dairy Queen debacle. It photographed more gold, but it’s actually rose gold. I do love it, even though it’s kind of difficult to fit my Kindle into it.
