Floral Slip Dress, Black Sweater & Ankle Booties: Summer Hair

So, yeah. I had this theory. If I colored my hair back to it’s summer shade, the weather would follow suit. I’m not crazy…I wasn’t expecting 75 degrees and sunshine. All I was asking for was something above 0 and maybe two or three feet less snow. You all can see how well that worked out for me. As a matter of fact this coming Friday’s overnight low is -15. No, not with wind chill. Straight up -15. WTH winter?? I just keep telling myself that one month from now this will all be over. A girl can dream, right?

Keeping with the “stuck in the Arctic, wishing it was the Bahamas” theme, I winterized my floral slip dress. Honestly, that’s not rocket science. I simply threw a black sweater over top, fleece lined leggings, socks and booties underneath and ta-da! A winterized summer dress. Oh, and I threw in the flower necklace for another dose of pretend summer.

Quiet Friday And A $50 Amazon Gift Card Giveaway: Sequin Skirt, Graphic Tee And Gray Cardigan

I’m calling today “Quiet Friday” because I don’t have much to say today. Oh, it’s not that I don’t have a good story or two up my sleeve, it’s just that I’m in a mood. You know what I mean. Those moods where you’re a complete crabasorous rex and everything just seems to irritate you? You feel like your hair is a hot mess, your clothes all look hideous and you just want to curl up under a blanket and alternate between pouting and napping. Well, I’ve been in that kinda mood for the last couple of days. So today we’re just going to focus on the pictures. Speaking of which, this particular outfit was on hold from a couple of weeks ago. I chose to use it today because when I loaded yesterday’s outfit shots on to the computer I discovered that apparently a truly frightening looking demon had taken up residence in my Canon and replaced me in all of the shots. Honest, I’m not having a pity party, but they really were some God-awful photos.
This is one of those outfits where I chose one dressy item (the skirt) and paired it with casual pieces on top (the tee and cardi). Thus the two balanced one another out and made one fine work appropriate outfit. That’s one of my favorite things to do; taking clothing that one would expect to be worn in a specific way and giving it a unique twist to make it work in an unexpected way.
I’ve teamed up with a group of fabulous bloggers to bring you a sweet little giveaway. I mean seriously, who couldn’t use a $50 Amazon gift card? Entering is easy. Simply follow the instructions on the Rafflecopter below and you’re good to go. It runs from today through January 23rd. Good luck!

Year In Review Part Two: Favorite Outfits July Thru December 2014

Can you believe it? Today is the last day of 2014. It really does seem like the older you get the faster the time goes by. Speaking of time going by and getting older, yesterday I had one of those moments that brings a tear to your eye because it brings into sharp focus just how fast the time does go. Mini me and I had finished up spending all of her Justice gift cards and I decided to do a quick walk-thru at Forever 21. Do you know what happened? I didn’t find anything, but I bought my daughter her first ever item of clothing from Forever 21. Umm…she’s ten. She was so excited to get something from a big girl’s store and I was so, well, sad. Granted, it was a skirt that on a grown up would have been a total hooker skirt. I mean seriously, it was teeny tiny. With that being said, it is the perfect little black pencil skirt on her. And what made me proud? She chose the black one because “she could do more with it”. Oh, I have trained her well.
I want to take a moment to thank all of you for your support and kind words this year. Without my readers I wouldn’t have a blog so really, I owe it all to you. I wish you all a fabulous New Year and I look forward to an even better 2015!

The Frog Plague And An Amazon Giveaway: Plaid Pants, Blue Fuzzy Sweater And Black Ankle Boots

I’ve mentioned before that I have a peculiar obsession with end of the world movies and books. Love them…actually I devour them; even the occasional lame and cheesy variety. The really good ones are way more entertaining and scary to me than a horror film, but the low budget ones can be just as entertaining from a comedy standpoint.  I spent all of Sunday afternoon watching a series of Lifetime-esque end of the world movies on one of our movie channels. Huge, giant cheeseball movies that due to their cheeseballness had some seriously hilarious moments. Before I share one of my favorite moments let me also point out that I love poison dart frogs. They’re beautiful, tiny and deadly. When you’ve got those three adjectives all together in one package, what’s not to love?
So what would make a low budget end of the world movie even more fabulous? A poison dart frog attack that’s what. Who ever the crack smokin’ genius is that came up with the idea to tie those two things together is in my opinion a screenwriting god. Why would you even think to include poison dart frogs in an end of the world movie? I can’t answer that my friends, but I can tell ya, it definitely added that little extra somethin’.
I wore this outfit a few weeks ago, but hadn’t got around to posting it yet. Mainly because I’m lookin’ a little cranky in most of the shots. That would be because it was dark, gloomy and raining. Yes, it was full on raining by the time I got done with these. That’s some serious blog dedication ladies and gentlemen.
I gotta tell ya, this sweater is just as soft as it looks. It’s like wearing a bunch of blue angora kittens for a sweater. And since the blue played so nicely with the plaid pants from Target I decided they would make a fine outfit, which despite the ugly weather, they did. I would have worn the matching blazer over top, but the sweater was a bit too bulky. But that’s the beauty of a good suit; it works just as well as separates as it does as a suit.
