Leopard Print Blazer, Plaid Blouse & Layered Necklaces: Hair Scare & A Nordstrom Giveaway

One would think that after teaching special education for almost 25 years I would learn to anticipate certain things. Like the effect of changes, for example. I know that my kids have a super hard time with change; move the furniture, they freak out; two hour delay schedule, they’re confused all day. But tweek my hair color? The whole damn world ends.

I suppose I should have seen that one coming. Although, to be fair, they’ve all been with me for quite awhile and they pretty much seem to roll with my fashion/beauty related quirkiness. I switch from summer to winter hair and vice versa every year. But for some reason the hair color change this time threw a couple of my little lovelies for a loop. You would’ve thought I shaved my head bald and tattooed my scalp. And moved all of the furniture. To another room. One of my kids took one look at me, bolted across the room to my friend/aide and while pointing at me and hopping up down kept saying, “Look at Mrs. Stinedurf! Look at her hair!” I had to pull my mirror out of my desk just to look and make sure my head wasn’t on fire.

So, my friends, how’s this for a super bold print mix? Truly, this particular mix isn’t for the faint of heart or the print mix virgin. I knew I wanted to mix plaid and leopard so I started with my leopard print blazer and built it from there. I considered a plaid flannel, but decided the sheer plaid blouse had more of the right feel; less bulky and more floaty. In keeping with the lighter feel, I went with the delicate layered necklaces as opposed to a statement necklace or scarf. I finished it off with my super cool red ankle booties since they tied in so well with the blouse.

It’s A Bulldog Thing…

After having owned an American Bulldog, a Pug/Bull mix, and our English Bulldog we have learned there are certain little odd behaviors and such that are very specific to the bull breeds.  My husband and I have often said,”It’s a bulldog thing” to explain some bizarre thing one of them had done.  I found this tee on Cafe Press and knew the hubby and I both had to have one.  I hadn’t had a chance to wear my yet when that God-awful situation I wrote about last week happened with Pawl.  For obvious reasons, I retired the tees.
Buuut….since my husband is the most fabulous man ever, I got him an English Bully puppy for Christmas! He is so ridiculous cute I can hardly stand it! He’ll get to come home with us around the second week in December and so in light of the good news, I pulled my bull tee back into rotation.
Be forewarned…I just got my bulldog graphic tee from J Crew Factory in the mail yesterday so it will be showing up this week I’m sure.  I’m like a little kid, when I get something new I can’t wait to wear it.  So I guess instead of Shark Week, it’s Bulldog Week.  Truth be told, these pics are from the weekend so I actually am pacing myself on the bully tees!

Flowers and Cream

I bought this sweatshirt at the beginning of summer and haven’t had a chance to wear it until today.  It totally feels like fall outside and it’s still August…chilly, windy, and cloudy….yuck!  If it’s this cold in August what’s December going to be like?!
When I first saw this sweatshirt, I knew I had to have it.  The embroidery on the sleeves is just so pretty.  Sweatshirts are one of my favorite things to wear because it’s like wearing publicly acceptable pajamas.  That way I almost fit in at Walmart on the weekends!  I even wear them to work…pair a sweatshirt with a skirt, heels, and the right accessories and you’re good to go.
Today I’m linking with Alison at Get Your Pretty On for her weekly I Feel Pretty Link Up.
