I promise, I’m not as irritated as I look in these photos…
THE STORY
…nor is this my lame attempt at hitting a Blue Steel pose. Usually I try to get a few shots where I’m actually smiling, but every time I did I kind of looked like I was in intense pain. Or like perhaps someone was off camera holding a camera to my head saying, “Smile or die.” The problem? It was freakin’ cold outside. I mean like 12 degrees cold. So cold it made my teeth hurt if I smiled; so actually I was in intense pain. Nope, I’m not complaining. I’m no fan of winter, but like I mentioned previously 60 degrees in December was freaking. me. out. I was having nightmares about twenty five pound wasps who lived and mutated all winter because it was too warm, chasing me down and holding me hostage in their mud nests/condos. You see, it hasn’t been cold long enough yet for me to have built up my ability to pretend it’s not freezing cold while taking outfit shots. Eventually I’ll get to the point where even though my internal organs are frozen solid, I’ll be able to pull off that “It’s not cold out here because I’m smokin’ hot in this outfit” nonchalant cool girl look in my photos. Ya, a girl can dream, right?
THE OUTFIT
This has got to be one of my favorite neutral color combos. Camel and black just look so right together. I’m not sure what it is, but I like it. Even though the boots are working the same colors as the camel cowl neck sweater and black skinny jeans, they make it interesting because…well, look at them; these are hands down the fiercest pair of ankle boots I own. The lighter camel in the scarf echos the color of the sweater and the plaid adds another shot of visual interest to an otherwise simple look.
THE TIP
Neutral doesn’t have to mean boring. The different textures in the knit of the sweater, the distressing on the jeans and the subtle mix of prints work together to keep it interesting. When going all neutral look for things like different textures, layers of varying lengths or maybe a print in neutral colors to keep things lively.

They do…simple and classic is a good description. Snow does make a great background, but the cold not so much!
Those boots are fierce! I’ve been eyeing a pair just like those at DSW but not willing to pay the price…yet 😉 I have that exact same blanket scarf…that I will probably never wear again because Vegas is too warm. Sigh…
I’ve also got 4 pairs of Uggs gathering dust too. 🙁

Lol…ya, I would imagine there isn’t much use for blanket scarves and Uggs in Vegas…
Great look Debbie, love your scarf 🙂

The cold does make the whole blogging thing a challenge, that’s for sure!
OMG those are KILLER boots, Debbie. Seriously, KILLER boots. I may have to get on a plane and steal them from you - ha, ha! And it’s also quite freaky but this weekend, I’ve done a very similar outfit with my wine seasonal skinny! Camel jumper, boots, my plaid cape and a coloured pendant. It’s like we’re style twinnies this weekend.
And I don’t think you look irritated. I think you look fabulous. The colour of your hair looks especially glorious against the camel.
Keep warm!

The boots are pretty great, I’m not sure why I’ve not worn them in awhile. Because of the wedge/platform they are surprisingly comfortable too. 🙂
Blue Steel! I’m so excited for Zoolander 2! Ha!
Anyway, 12 degrees! We went skiing a couple of weeks ago and it was 28 degrees and I thought I was dying. LOL. And that’s in layers of ski gear! Californians are wimps. I know.
Great outfit, adorable boots, love the color palette!
Thanks for being a part of our Friday fashion fun!

Ya, we’re pretty hardcore over here in the snowbelt…lol! Zoolander 2 looks like it’s will be pretty hilarious…I’m a big fan of movies that are “stupid” funny. 🙂
I love the snow Debbie! I was just trying to find out where you live….We were just home for the holidays where we were amidst tons of snow in Spokane, Washington and Northern Idaho for skiing. Ahhh, take me back! Now, luckily, we’ve just had a cozy rainy weekend. I know that doesn’t seem lucky, but I like experiencing winter weather in Hong Kong.
Debbie, I love this outfit! Your legs in those skinnies look great! The color combo is perfect! I have the same scarf, but I especially love those booties! It all just works!
Thanks for linking up to the Kremb de la Kremb Style Stories.

Nothing like the illusion black skinny jeans provide…lol! I’m in NW Pennsylvania, right in the snowbelt so we usually get quite a lot of it.
You look very cool, i Like your style 🙂
Thank you!
Oh debbie, i love this look so so much, Yosa had similar tartan scarves but they sold out, they are so so popular, Yours looks fabulous on you, especially against the tobacco coloured sweater.. what a great combo! XXX
Thanks Rachel! I’m not surprised they sold out. 🙂
Hey there Debbie, you really don’t look irritated in the photos as you say. You look amazing from head to toe, and I must say that you really know how to dress classy. So simple and unique, I dont recall meeting someone dressing in such a unique outfit. Thanks for sharing.
