Floral Bomber Jacket & Lace Up Peep Toe Booties: Taken Down By A Min Pin

how to make a trend your own

First and foremost, can I hear an “hallelujah and amen”…

THE STORY

…for bare legs and peep toe booties in the first week of March. I didn’t realize how tired I was of pseudo-winter until the temperature hit 68 degrees. Seriously, look by my feet…a dandelion! Not necessarily the harbinger of spring that normally comes to mind, but hey, I’ll take what I can get. So I’ve got a funny story for you; at least it amuses me. And lately I’ve been all serious deep insightful girl, so we’re long overdue.

It’s actually hard to see in these pictures, but there’s a rather sizable bruise on my right shin. It’s just about the size of a…wait for it…miniature pinscher butt. Yep, I have a butt bruise on my shin. How does one get a pinscher butt bruise on one’s shin you might be wondering? Here’s the thing, all four of our dogs have at least one super peculiar issue. Way back when, I shared the story about our sheltie’s sever anxiety disorder that required Xanax, like actual human Xanax. And it didn’t work. Well, our min pin has OCD; officially diagnosed obsessive compulsive disorder. Her primary compulsion is that in the kitchen and hallway (both tile floors) she has to walk backwards along the perimeter as opposed to just walking across the floor. Come on now, I could not make that up. After she makes her way around the walls and gets to the dining room doorway, she literally launches herself into the dining room; sometimes she launches facing forward, sometimes backwards. The other day at the exact moment I was rounding the corner into the kitchen, Jaida launched herself backwards into the dining room, any yep, right into my shin. The pain was so unexpected and so bad, she almost took me down. I like to think I’m a bad ass, but I almost got taken out by a 10 pound ball of yappiness. Kinda puts my bad-assery into perspective, doesn’t it?

THE OUTFIT

I’ve worn this floral bomber jacket before with jeans and with plaid pants, but that was back before they got trendy. Now I’m like all cutting edge and whatnot because according to Who What Wear, bomber jackets are now officially a thang. That won’t stop me from wearing it though, because trendy or not, if I’m diggin’ something, I wear it. This go round, I used it along with the fiercest ankle booties ever, to do a little edgy professional with the pencil skirt. And can we take a moment for these Qupid ankle booties? I’m having a moment with lace up flats, and these are lace up ankle booties. O.M.G. I can’t even. They are perfection.

THE TIP

We always hear the advice to not wear just anything simply because it’s trendy. By the same token, don’t disregard a piece simply because it’s trendy. Do we want to look like everyone else? No. But if you love something and everyone else is wearing it, so what? If you love it, wear it. Like I said, I’m having a hot love affair with lace up flats even though you can barely make it through your Instagram feed without seeing a pair; they’re as prolific as macaroons and bloggers holding ice cream cones. You can also put your own spin on a trend and make it your own like I did when I paired the floral bomber jacket with an all business pencil skirt.

You’re not the only one with a crazy dog, mine needs acepromazine so he doesn’t take off the vet’s hand while being examined.

Love your bomber jacket which reminds me to dig out mine!!

I live by those same fashion rules! Wear what you LOVE and don’t worry about the trends =o). Besides, at this point in fashion, anything goes, it’s all haute!

I am sorry about your shin and your dog’s OCD. But yeah Spring weather is here and I like you, am loving open-toe laceup booties and bought a pair myself. I am in love with that floral bomber and the cute little necklaces layered together. Plus your butterfly tattoo looks great with this Spring outfit.

I would love for you to join my new linkup (below) Debbie with this outfit and any other recent outfits. They are too pretty, not to share. Thank you. =))
