Blown Away And A Giveaway: Plaid Flannel Button Down, Denim Joggers And Red Ankle Booties

Today it was around 60 degrees outside. Wait…what?? Last week it was -6 with the wind chill. Bipolar much, weather? One would think it would’ve been perfect for blog picture taking. Um ya. If there weren’t 50 mph wind gusts. Literally. 50 mph. There’s windblown and there’s windblown. I did some shots inside, but I still can’t get the lighting set up quite right in the pumpkin cave, see yesterday’s post if you’re not sure exactly what the pumpkin cave is. Therefore, I decided to go with Friday’s outfit pics. It’s actually sad because today’s outfit was pretty fab if I do say so myself. If I’m feeling motivated over Thanksgiving break maybe I’ll recreate it for your viewing pleasure. Ya, I’m thoughtful like that.
These red ankle boots are a big hit every time I wear them, and understandably so. They are perfect for taking an ordinary outfit and kicking it up a few levels. I used to wear them quite a bit, but they just happen to be the boots I was wearing when I slipped at work two years ago and tore my knee. After having knee surgery I was a bit wary of the little buggers. It’s not like they have much of a heel that would have caused me to slip, so maybe it was some sort of boot vendetta. Now every time I wear them I feel like I walk funny because I’m afraid to slip. I actually have them in three other colors, but my phobia only covers the red ones. Ya, I’m a freak and I’m lettin’ my freak flag fly. Thank you very much.
You still have until Friday at midnight EST to enter the fab Fall Faves Giveaway. It would be a great free Christmas gift to yourself if you win and seriously, how cool is free?

The Mysterious Case Of The Missing Cow: Embroidered Camo Jacket, Baseball Sweater And Denim Joggers

Do you guys remember the story from a few weeks back about the pet cow tied to the tree? If you need a refresher, click here, trust me, it’s worth the click. Anyway, my daughter and I went by that house the other day on our way to the “big” mall. (How sad that it’s “big” because it has a Target and an Old Navy…ha!) The cow was nowhere to be found; not on the way to the mall, not on the way home from the mall. A friend of mine at work lives near the cow house and he said that it’s been there since it was a calf, and he knew this because his kids always request that he drive by so they can see the pet cow tied to the tree. Now mind you, the house where the cow lives is not on a farm…there’s no barn, no pasture, nothing remotely cow-like. So where in the hell was the cow?! I asked my daughter where she thought the cow was and her immediate response with absolutely no wait time was, “Um, in their bellies.” I busted out laughing because quite honestly, I was thinking the same thing. They lulled the poor thing into a sense of complacency because it thought it was the family pet and then they gobbled it up. I don’t know really. Maybe the cow is just on a cow-cation with it’s cow friends.
This jacket has got to be one of my all time favorites. I scored it on Ebay a year or two ago and I wear it a lot. I like that the embroidery makes it different from your standard issue camo jacket. And these boots!? Everyone knows that any sensible work boot should have a two to three inch stacked heel, right? That ‘s why I fell in love immediately. They are just a bit odd, which makes them fabulous in my book.

Sunday Funday: Plaid Blazer, Denim Joggers And Converse

Let me just say Saturday night was not in any way fun. I had six of those damn IEP’s to finish before Monday’s parent meetings, and that was hours of work. Endless, hellish hours. But finally, exhausted and red-eyed I had them done late Saturday night.
Sunday though? That was fun. The hubs and our kids with their respective mates and kids (umm…ya, our daughter is in 5th grade so no mate or kids) went to a local corn maze. It was a blast! I took lots of pics and my son even snapped some shots for the blog because of course, I was stylin’. A girl’s gotta look good, even in the middle of a cornfield, am I right?  Unfortunately, they came out uber grainy. I used my iPhone and I’m thinking maybe since it was really cloudy and overcast it was a lighting issue. There was a collage that came out pretty fab so I’ll throw that in for your viewing pleasure.
I have been on the hunt for a cool pair of denim joggers that weren’t hideously acid washed for months. Fiinnallly…Tilly’s came through for me. These things are great. They fit perfectly and have a hint of stretch so they are super comfortable. And my husband loved them, which is unusual because he typically hates my jogger pants. So bonus points there. The plaid blazer is a recent Target acquisition. You all know I have a thing for plaid, so when I saw it in blazer form, well, I was powerless to resist. Originally I had on my burgundy ankle booties last seen here, and quite honestly I liked them a lot better than the Converse. But my foot was in an ornery mood, hence the Converse.
