Sunday Funday: Plaid Blazer, Denim Joggers And Converse

Let me just say Saturday night was not in any way fun. I had six of those damn IEP’s to finish before Monday’s parent meetings, and that was hours of work. Endless, hellish hours. But finally, exhausted and red-eyed I had them done late Saturday night.
Sunday though? That was fun. The hubs and our kids with their respective mates and kids (umm…ya, our daughter is in 5th grade so no mate or kids) went to a local corn maze. It was a blast! I took lots of pics and my son even snapped some shots for the blog because of course, I was stylin’. A girl’s gotta look good, even in the middle of a cornfield, am I right?  Unfortunately, they came out uber grainy. I used my iPhone and I’m thinking maybe since it was really cloudy and overcast it was a lighting issue. There was a collage that came out pretty fab so I’ll throw that in for your viewing pleasure.
I have been on the hunt for a cool pair of denim joggers that weren’t hideously acid washed for months. Fiinnallly…Tilly’s came through for me. These things are great. They fit perfectly and have a hint of stretch so they are super comfortable. And my husband loved them, which is unusual because he typically hates my jogger pants. So bonus points there. The plaid blazer is a recent Target acquisition. You all know I have a thing for plaid, so when I saw it in blazer form, well, I was powerless to resist. Originally I had on my burgundy ankle booties last seen here, and quite honestly I liked them a lot better than the Converse. But my foot was in an ornery mood, hence the Converse.

Two Is Better Than One: Khakis, Graphic Tee And Pin Stripe Blazer

There are a few things you might notice that are unusual about these pictures. First of all, not only am I outside, but the sun is shining and it’s so warm that I have no visible goose bumps…yay! Second, I’m wearing two different pairs of shoes. And I actually wore both of them through the course of the day. Why you ask? Peer Pressure? A severe case of shoe ADD? No, it’s really pretty simple. I always take back up flats in case I have some sort of high heel related problem, which today I did. My poor little feet aren’t used to sportin’ shoes without two pairs of socks and a pair of tights to keep ’em covered. By 9:30 I had a blister, hence the sneaks. The girls gotta toughen up…it’s naked foot weather! Tomorrow it’s supposed to be 70 degrees…holy crap!! I never thought it would be that warm again…the weird thing is, there was about three inches of snow on the ground Sunday. But who cares?! 70 degrees!!! Yippee and amen to that!

PS…Yes, I’ve been playing with my header. I’m bored and need to update things, but I’m not quite ready for a full redesign yet. Since I’m tired and need to go to bed this is what I have until I play some more!

White Out

I finally broke down and bought an ivory blazer.  It scares me just about as much as white jeans.  I have visions of coffee splashes and dirt smudges, and worst of all, those mysterious unidentifiable marks that seem to magically appear on clothing and you have absolutely no recollection of where they came from.  And usually these marks make themselves visible only after you’ve already washed and dried said article of clothing.
Anyway, I do really love this blazer in it’s current pristine and virginal state.  I think it looks particularly cool over the white tee…although pairing the two together is really asking for a smack down from the stain gods.

Style Tip:  When wearing white on white on your top half only, be sure to accessorize with a necklace or two or maybe a scarf to add visual interest.

Spots and Sparkles

I gotta say, I love ponte knit blazers. When I discovered them a year or so ago, I couldn’t have been happier!  Alright, that might be an exaggeration,  but I was pretty pumped about it.  How could you not be?  It’s like the love child between a blazer and a sweatshirt! What’s not to love?!
If there’s anything I despise, it has to be feeling confined or restricted.  If I put something on and it tugs, pulls, or is tight, I will not wear it.  Bras drive me crazy…even comfortable ones are uncomfortable to me!  I only jumped on the skinny jeans bandwagon in the last year because I was scared of them!  They just looked so…..umm…what’s the word…tight. Ya, that’s it!  I digress…the point is ponte knit blazers are super comfortable and as we all know, a blazer can totally make an outfit. This one is my favorite because of the leopard print.  It definitely sees a lot of action and I haven’t paired it with anything that it didn’t look good with.

Style Tip:  Classic items, like a blazer, can be just as versatile in an unexpected print as they are in a solid color.
