So, my love and I went on a movie date this past Saturday…
THE STORY
…and we’re sitting there minding our own business munching popcorn and watching previews. The door opens and in walks a guy and his date. What’s the problem with that you may be thinking? His date was about my height, with short cropped hair, wearing all pink. Okay, still no problem. She was soft and fluffy and he was carrying her…now that got your attention didn’t it? Dude strolls in carrying a life-size teddy bear. Like he owns the world and there isn’t a damn thing out of the ordinary. This was a fairly full movie theater mind you. And he doesn’t cower and grab the first seat available. No. He walks in front of the entire theater to the other side, up the steps and takes a seat. Did he lose a bet with his friends? Did he really, really want to see “Daddy’s Home”, but couldn’t bear (no pun intended, but it was a good one wasn’t it) the thought of going alone? Did he set up a profile on PlushDates.com thinking it was a site full of really soft cuddly girls only to find out it was actually a site for people with a stuffed animal fetish? I’ll never know the answers to my questions, but I gotta give the guy props for being uber confident in his choice of movie date because he was owning it. And look at the money he was saving; no need for dinner and drinks after the movie.
THE OUTFIT
Okay, I’ll admit I didn’t realize how much I looked like I rolled out of the back door of a Def Leppard tour bus in this outfit until I looked at the photos. Nothing says rocker/biker chick more than a plaid flannel shirt, ripped jeans, moto jacket combo. But hey, I’m actually kind of diggin’ it. I suppose I could have toned it down with maybe a plain belt, a blazer and a girly sparkly necklace, but what would’ve been the fun in that? The one thing that keeps it from tipping over the cliff into aging rock band groupie completely? The slightly snarky “I woke up like this” owl on my t-shirt. How cute is he? And realistic because I’m pretty much grumpy and disheveled when I wake up too. Ya, that’s another thing I didn’t realize until I saw the shots; I’m also sporting a crop top. I’ve been known to occasionally go at my tees with scissors and this one is no exception. But I went a little too scissor happy and now it’s cropped. Oh well, I guess I can’t complain too much if I can still wear a crop top at my age. No, I’m not being ageist…just realistic.
THE TIP
This is very much related to Friday’s tip about breaking fashion rules. If you want to wear something that in most people’s minds falls into what might be considered the “younger” fashion category, like say…oh, I don’t know…a crop top, then by all means do it. If you feel you’ve got the body for it and the spunk to carry it off then go for it. No judgement here, even if your movie date is a stuffed bear.

Ha ha! You always have the best stories : )
I like the idea of PlushDates.com. They never disagree with you and you can throw them out of the bed when they are taking up too much room.

Love a cute plaid shirt combined with a graphic tee! I just purchased a pair of distressed jeans too. Hmm…I might just have to copy this look. Speaking of copying your look…I recently thrifted a jacket and discovered that you also have it too! You got it on ebay a couple of years ago. Check out my blog tomorrow…

I suppose if he had cowered and sat at the back it would mean he was ashamed of his cuddly date but he gave softie the respect deserved lol. Love your biker chic look. Awesome!!! Happy new year Debbie.

Hi Emily. I am going sort of backwards and catching up with one of your latest outfits but I definitely wanted to wish you a Very Happy New Year first of all. Hope 2016 is great all around! I will definitely catch up tomorrow on my day off. I have your blog and a few other I plan on catching up on.
Anyway, this outfit is totally you: leather moto jacket, plaid shirt, graphic tee and distressed BF jeans. That is totally a real compliment. I love when I wear outfits that nail my style to a T. I still need some BF jeans and a Black moto jacket by the way. You are so rocker cool in this. Ohh and Debbie, I am a pretty cheap date myself.
All right, I will catch up again very soon.
Welcome by! <3 Ada.

Ohh I meant to write Debbie, sorry. I need to eat something, my brain isn’t working. I have barely eaten all day.

Maybe someone hosting a fashion linkup should do a plush teddy bear theme..the model could be human and/or teddy bear…yeah, I’m liking the idea! Thanks for a funny post!

A very Happy New Year to you, dearest Debbie!! Oh my gosh, I sooo love doing a full-on “rock star” outfit every once in a while, and - from moto jacket, to red-plaid shirt, to spikey statement necklace - your version hits the proverbial nail right on the head!! And I agree…that graphic tee is the perfect finishing touch; you go, girl, for daring to do cropped!! XOXO P.S. I can’t even imagine the story behind the fellow with the teddybear..but you’ve certainly come up with some pretty plausible scenerios!! 😀
