Pink Wedge Sandals & Baseball Tee: Get Well Soon

Today my friends, I have for you another little peek into the strange little backwoods world that I call home. Sunday I took a cruise to the nearby small town to run some errands. I took a couple of different back roads (as if there’s any other kind of road around here) to get there and on two entirely different roads I happened upon road kill with a “Get Well Soon” mylar balloon attached to it. No, I’m not making this up. The first one made me go, “Ewww!” The second one made me wonder if perhaps someone had too much time on their hands. On the way home, I took a completely different road; like on the other side of town. And yep, you guessed it. Another dead animal, another mylar balloon. W.T.H?? Not only does someone have waayy… too much time on their hands, I also believe they may have an undiagnosed mental condition. Think about it. Someone took the time and money to go out and buy “Get Well” balloons and then drove around the countryside looking for animals who had made unfortunate road crossing decisions to which they attached these balloons. Wow. Just wow.

Scroll down and take a peep at my feet. What’s that? Sandals? Um, yes…hooray for sandal weather! I recently stumbled across these pink wedge sandals at Old Navy. Since the wedge was just the right height to give some lift while not making my feet scream in agony I also picked up a nude pair. They were super crazy on sale so I got both pairs for about $30. I’m loving them because the color is so vivid and they really are comfortable. Although they did require some shoe inserts because Old Navy shoes are often hard to size because they often only come in whole sizes. These were a hair loose, but the insert fixed that right up. The warmer weather also called for the return of my tissue weight baseball tees. I picked this one up at Express about a year ago and it works just as well with skirts as it does with jeans (check it out here). The sandals and the neon necklace took a basic jeans and tee look to a different level; had I worn my Chucks and a more delicate necklace the outfit would have had an entirely different feel. That just goes to show you what a difference the extras make in an outfit.

Pink Moto Jacket & Baseball Tee: “Those” Pants

I’m pretty sure most of us have them. You know, “those” pants? The pair that is actually too big to wear but you keep ‘em around for the days when you’re feeling a little less than sleek. Well, these are “those” pants for me. Actually when I’m at my normal weight they are too big to wear at all; even with a belt they look simply too big. Sadly enough right now they fit perfectly. Um ya, that’s not a good thing. No, this isn’t a woe is me rant about how ginormous I am when in reality I know I’m not. But what I am is not the weight I feel and look best at. Therefore, I will fix it. I always do; it’s not uncommon for my weight to fluctuate because all I need to do is look at a cupcake and my ass takes that as a signal to squirrel away fat cells like a grizzly getting ready to hibernate. And after years of training for bodybuilding I know a thing or two about food manipulation so it’s an easy enough remedy. These pants fitting well was as motivational as an infomercial at 1 a.m.

With that being said, I was going to go the professional route and pair them with a white button down and cardigan, you know, just to confuse you guys. But I just couldn’t do it. Hence the baseball tee and pink moto jacket. Ya, that’s the ticket. Keepin’ it real my friends, keepin’ it real. I haven’t worn this particular pair of boots in literally years, so I decided to give them a run before they go back to their summer home in the attic. As much as I love my big obnoxious statement necklaces, lately I’ve been feeling serious love for the delicate layered look. I picked this necklace up last month at Headline Boutique and it’s that perfect jumble of delicate eclectic awesomeness. How was that for a mouth full of adjectives?

Baseball Tee, Distressed Skinny Jeans & Bearpaws: You Might Be A Teacher If…

…you are equally as excited to receive a giant box from Kurtz Bros. as you are a box from Nordstrom. Yep. That’s a pretty good indicator in my book. For those of you not familiar with Kurtz Bros. it’s a giant school/office supply company that we order most all of our classroom supplies from. And yes, when a box from them arrived at my room today I did a happy dance. Literally. A happy dance in circles like a puppy getting a new bone. I tore into that thing like it had ten pairs of new shoes inside. It was like the party pinata of school supplies…dry erase markers, colored pencils, construction paper, calculators…the list goes on and on. My new program starts tomorrow (Wednesday) and I had nothing, seriously, nothing for my classroom. Several boxes of my stash of supplies was somehow lost when I moved back to the middle school, and I had also left a lot of my stuff for the teacher who replaced me at the elementary so I had nada. And now I’ve got lots of cool new stuff. Yes, it was a good day at the middle school my friends.

I realize that distressed skinny jeans, a baseball tee and Bearpaw boots don’t make for a super exciting outfit, but I gotta say, I thought it was pretty cute for a casual goin’ to the backwoods Walmart outfit. When I went outside to take the shots my husband told our daughter I was going out to take pictures of my redneck hick outfit. True perhaps, but a pretty cool redneck hick if I do say so myself.
