Sometimes I amaze myself with my own lack of common sense. Maybe not so much a lack of common sense, but more like a tendency to overlook the obvious…
THE STORY
…No matter what question pops up, as I’ve told you guys before, I Google it…or on occasion I’ll search Pinterest if the dilemma at hand warrants it. Since I had my hair lopped off, I haven’t been able to get it quite right. Too much curl, too straight, I just couldn’t hit that sweet spot of perfectly messy waviness. Which is ironic in light of the fact my hair is naturally wavy. I’ve used every single styling tool in my arsenal to no avail.
Also ironic…it didn’t occur to me until the other night to look on Pinterest. Well, duh. It wasn’t easy to find, mind you. It took a lot of creative wording and rewording, but yes! I found the perfect messy waves tutorial. It’s so easy I almost gave myself one of those V-8 forehead smacks. Again…duh. Simply hold the curling iron horizontally and go down the section of hair in the same manner that you would a crimper. Remember old school hair crimpers? Now there’s an 80’s flashback…
In any case, my waves are now just the way I want ’em and I’m a happy girl. See…I’m easy to please.
THE OUTFIT
If you asked me what my go-to piece is when I really don’t know what else to wear, or I’m feeling uninspired, or lazy my default is always a duster of some sort; and in this case I layered two of them. Because hey, if one’s good, two has to be fabulous, right? My rose print floral duster is the base piece and I layered my black sweater duster over top for some extra warmth.
The nice thing about dusters is they honestly work with almost anything. Here I paired it with my favorite olive slouchy pants, but dusters add a little extra to shorts, jeans and even dresses or skirts. I’ve even been known to throw a belt over a duster and wear it as a dress. I’m wild like that. Honestly, I have plenty more links I could have added, but I didn’t want to bore you to death.
THE TIP
You can probably already guess. Get a duster. Long sleeve, short sleeve, shirt-style or sweater it doesn’t matter pick one up. Your wardrobe will thank you.

Debbie, baby, sweetheart. where have you been all of my life? Ha, ha. I love layering and I would have never thought to layer two dusters over each other, but this works beautifully! Amazing what you can do, when you just think about it. I’m going to try that wavy thing too. My hair is straight as a board so we’ll see if it works. Thanks for sharing. - Amy
