As you can tell from most of my photos, I have a few places that I typically take my shots…
THE STORY
…I always keep an eye out for other places that please me. Obviously I like places that have a lot of natural prettiness; trees, water, leaves in the fall, flowers, you get the idea. Yesterday’s photos were taken on a side road in a little business/mill area near where I live, and lucky for me (not so lucky for the local economy) there’s not much going on there so I could use the road uninterrupted. The stark whiteness of the snow-covered road and field were perfect for the all gray outfit.
Today’s shots though? Ya, this is a totally rockin’ place to take pictures. And how about I forgot it even existed until I was reminded by, of all people, a teenage boy. My bestie asked me last week if I would do some senior picture shots of her son. We planned on doing them in the park where I do a lot of my photos because it offers so many gorgeous backgrounds and it’s centrally located. We did some shots there, but he also suggested the log cabin by the river.
Well, duh. How had I totally forgotten this place existed? It’s super close to work just like the park and the photographic options are endless. There’s the cabin, which is obviously amazing, the river, a trail along the river, a bridge…see what I mean? Not only did his senior shots come out beyond even what I expected, but I thought these shots weren’t too shabby either. In case you hadn’t guessed…you’ll be seeing a lot of the log cabin in the near future.
THE OUTFIT
The theme for this month’s installment of the Ageless Style Link Up is “Baby It’s Cold Outside”…damn, we really nailed it with that theme didn’t we? In light of the theme, and, well, all of the snow, I of course chose to feature a coat. To be more specific, my pink coat, I’ve had it for years and years (yep, Chadwicks again) and I’ve recently fallen in love with it all over again since I’m currently obsessed with all things pastel.
In keeping with the pink theme, I mixed in varying shades via the subtle blush shade of the sweater, the pink scarf, socks and my omnipresent hand warmers. These hand warmers though? Faux fur lined, thus perfect for all of the snowy coldness. The other key component for surviving snowy coldness? Layers. Plenty of lightweight layers give the added warmth without the added bulk.
The finishing touch was another pair out of my rather hefty collection of Bearpaw boots. These lace up Bearpaw boots are a favorite of mine because they give off a kind of lumberjack/work boot vibe and they’re different from many slip-on pairs. I thought it was only fitting to feature another pair of Bearpaw boots because in case you missed it yesterday, I along with Bearpaw are giving you, my lovely readers, the chance to win a pair of Bearpaw boots of your choice. Details and entry form are below.
THE TIP
Cold, blustery winter weather means one thing; layers. In order to avoid looking like you piled on everything in your closet, keep the layers on the lighter side. It’s just as warm to layer three or four lighter weight items, but with the added bonus of still looking fabulous. And being able to bend your limbs when necessary. Ya, that’s a bonus too.

This is beautiful. I love the light pink and the shoes! Very nice!
You look like the most precious snow bunny! Loving all the shades of pink, adding your fun had warmers, scarf & your pink coat is perfect!!! Layers are key in winter; great as you can peel off once inside & layer as needed when you are out in the elements. You do have the best back drops & love that you are also showcasing a little bit of where you live. I love doing that when I shoot down in St. Augustine, but the Boston area isn’t so pretty at the moment. Only looks gorgeous when the snow is falling, but those damn snow plows are too good at their jobs …. by morning the snow is brown & just in piles. Great inspiration & such a fun cozy look, love it!!! xxx Diane
